Kate/ Orbutt/ Rob of the North (BTW, great news about getting the Tour de France start in 2014. I assume you were an integral part of their winning offer!). Great to hear you talking about the book. It makes stuff that happens in your head so much simpler doesn't it. I feel a lot more calm and accepting of things. And purposeful.
Spot on about the change in outlook.
I wouldn't say I was instrumental in the decision to award. Merely influential.
'Mouth's fine, Weedy, but I find the whole 'dentist' experience traumatic.I'm sorry I didn't wear my HRM for a true ' max' reading..Dentist X makes my heart race faster than any hill session.
In true cheapskate fashion, I'm waiting for the thread's potted version of the Chimp book. This week, I am mostly spending my bawbees on a trip to...
The outer side of my right knee is hurting. Taking anti-inflams and resting for a few days. Hurts when I walk up or down the stairs. Think i may have hurt it a week ago when I was tired. From my research I believe it may be down to the hip flexor.
Just convincing myself that a few days rest will not hurt. I do believe someone mentioned that if you get to do at least 90% of the training schedule you are doing well.
James B - Ouch. Is the pain in the soft tissue or the joint? Are you doing any stretches? One of the possibilities is the IT Band - give it a google and have a look at the stretches for it.
ATM - if I click on that link I get 'runtime error'. I've had a few of those (the Lochaber marathon 2002 springs to mind) but I don't think that's what you meant?
James B - a couple of days rest and rollering should help.
Entirely gratuitous day off here. Because a) I have too many holidays left and b) I'm fed up doing 12 mile runs after work. It feels very decadent. I shall saunter out soon.
When I rub the side of the knee it appears to be soft tissue as opposed to the joint. It has got better since Saturday so hope it's just inflamed. We will see. Think it is ALS body saying I need a little rest. Have got two 15 mile runs, a 17 mile run and a 19 mile run done. I was hoping to do two more 20 s plus a fast half marathon. So we will see.
Emmy - Well done on completing another marathon. Although going on that report it's not going on my must do list!
I'm the same. I'm waiting for the response of the RD. If you do the half marathon - you'll have no problems as everything was there and fine. It's just if you're a 4hr + marathoner.
Someone mentioned foam rollers, I'm a keen user of them to get the niggles out, try to use it almost every day but it can be a bit of a pain! I've just upgraded to one of these beasts;
It's called a 'Rumble Roller' and they're utterly BRUTAL! But, once you've got over the agony, got the hang of it, and any initial knots are rolled out, it's an ace piece of kit. If you use it correctly I honestly reckon it's nearly as good as a pro deep-tissue sports massage.
Downside is it cost £40, but then again it costs me £45 an hour for my physio! Also, they come in blue (standard) and black (extra firm). I had the black one to start with but had to take it back to exchange, the bugger gave me bruises!
Aye, when I first saw it in Sweatshop my initial thought was; looks like a massive dildo! That's the 'shorter' version too, they do longer ones that measure about 2ft!
Forgot to say on my previous post, big thanks to ATM for her offer of insider info on the event; much appreciated!

Fingers crossed its not too bad.
Two steps forward one step back.
Ah,that's better.
James, sit beside me on the Bench. We can share the ibuprofen..
You could also try a foam roller - I use the Orange Roller of Doom from these guys http://tptherapy.com/shop/smrt-core-products/the-grid.html
Don't panic. You've got the fitness in your legs. You will need rest to heal properly and not giving yourself enough time will only set you back

Thanks, RR. Any better?
Tha's a reet gurt ponce DLR....
Hi all,
Back to work and back to reality!
ATM - I'll send you an email with some pictures. Let me know if the quality is good enough.
Race report from Malta is here. No splits yet as my Garmin is being stupid and not charging properly.
I'll catch up with everything later today... I have 500 emails to read
Well done, Emmy! It's really unforgiveable not to have enough medals at a Finish. I'm glad you got one...It's a nice one, too.
Emmy - Well done on completing another marathon. Although going on that report it's not going on my must do list!
its all about the Medal!
Well done Emmy for nailing another 26.2. How long before you become a centurion?

This was #10... so 90 to go I think 2015/2016 is "realistic"... but we'll see. I'm just trying to enjoy them
I cannot give you an idea of how hefty this medal is. It's so good it could be a weapon!

Bedders - Welcome to the pain zone!
I think RS and RR use a similar instrument of torture. I like to liven it up with one of those and a tiger tail!
Think I have seen those in the Ann Summers Shop

I have definitely seen the inside of most the portaloos, Bedders...
Well done Emmy.
Nice photos ATM

F**k me Bedders that makes my OROD look like a walk in the park...
I saw that earlier... it's quite funny!
Oh it will hurt you. If it doesn't hurt you're not doing it hard enough. Or something...
