cragchick: thanks for the encouragement to be sensible - seriously. I know I'd be absolutely kicking myself if I did the XC and ended up with a full stress fracture. I might try a short, gentle run on grass tomorrow, if my ankle is okay after standing around at my parkrun, driving, then cheering on my team mates at the XC. My head knows that if I'm sensible I can probably lose less than two weeks of running, and increase the distances again quite quickly, and do my ultras etc. next year (including XC for the club in Jan & Feb).
And note to self for future: if you're THAT tired, making your running form THAT bad, don't run!

As of right now trying to improve my nutrition (ie banning myself from drinking!) as it starting to affect my performance! Aiming to take down my PB in a spring marathon. Just the small matter of compelting the HM55 route about a month before my marathon

I wont let you go down in shame alone Lirish... I have just signed up for Amsterdam marathon. There I said it!
Decided to sort out my marathon PB, hopefully run a championship qualifying time of under 2:45 and probably never use it! haha It will top off a season of long trail races.

touie2: Sympathies. I've not run since TT50 - I decided to give my posterior tibial tendon two weeks off and see if that did the trick (alongside lots of stretching and strengthening exercises). After 12 days, there's definite progress although it's still not 100%. I'm itching to get out running again and very aware that it's now only a little over 8 weeks to SDW50...

What's this circular route, Lirish? Sounds right up my street. I'm doing MCN Black Mountains 33 and 10Peaks Brecon Beacons (long course) which will help me get familiar with much of the route of an epic own challenge I'm contemplating.
Also doing Connemara ultra (road), Endurancelife CTS Flete ultra (complete with estuary crossing), and Ridgeway 85. I think that's all for this year ...
Hope all those with injuries are getting better on this thread. I'm struggling to recover from a broken collarbone and some temporary nerve damage. Also the physio now tells me my left shoulderblade has 'winged' (pivoted out from the plane of the back) which would explain why I have got poor articulation at the moment in the left shoulder.
