I ran this year's Paris Marathon and about 2 weeks later started getting pain in my knee which stopped me running but also caused me to limp even when walking. After various visits to the Doc eventually I got an MRI scan in June where they aid I had "an oedoema inside the knee which appears to be an entity described as an spontaneous osteonecrosis" i.e. some dead bone caused by interruption of blood supply. Specialist didn't seem to worried (said the good news was the knee joint itself looked OK with no signs of wear and tear) and advised rest and avoiding running for 3 months. That takes me to end Sept but I can still feel sensitivity (not pain) in the same area of the knee.
Has anyone else had this and if so how long did recovery take?
Also any advice welcomed particulalrly on how to restart training and avoid further damage to the knee.
