    DEAD MAN MINCING

He'll probably never mince again after you've finished with him image

  • Finish. Er, dunno, what time did we finish last time?

    Thinks about 1pm?

  • Think we were later than that before DB. We took our time! Got to factor in the falling off/punctures/cake at Box Hill/walking/laughing/embarrassing photo shoots etc. image

  • Erm, could we say we will finish when we finish with no pressure of a finishing time image.  Please.

If it's 30 miles (Barlos reckons it's longer), can we reasonably expect to be doing it in 3.5 hours if it's a beginners' ride?

No chance! I think last time we left at 10am, then we stopped for coffee and cake, then got back about 2 or 3 pm.

  • Am I right to read the 'no chance' to my latter comment as opposed to the earlier bit image

  • Its for the latter!

  • Thank feck for that!  I was just about to bite your head off image

  • There is no pressure on finishing time. At all.

    Should I bring lights?image

  • A duvet and pillow might be more appropriate image

  • I ain't that sorta girl image

  • Just mapped it, it's half a mile short of 30 miles if we return via Staples Lane, 27 if we retrace steps, plus the arse end of Boxhill, so maybe 34?

  • Never did mince in the first place! image
  • Hmmm might be tough for me to come along as it means leaving the Mrs alone with the kids all day. Will run it by her and let you know how i get on if i am still alive afterwards.

  • Some lovely walks from Newlands and forests and woods for kids to rummage in? Plus loos, an information centre and two cafes. Just FYIimage

  • Thanks - but I don't think she will see the plus side of walking around with 3.5 year old twins without me there. The plan is to help with the kids more than usual this week and say lots of complimentary things before popping the question in to a conversation some time around Wednesday or Thursday image

  • There is always shopping in Guildford. I'd rather do Crocknorth 10 times than go shopping....but it might keep her happyimage

  • That's not a bad shout actually. BTW, another guy from my work coming. Stewart. SOmeone will have to think of a name for him!

  • easy  "Dustboy's mate not to be confused with Garr's mate Nige"

  • She could take the kids to Guildford Spectrum.  Although that can be harder work than shopping.

  • "Dustboy's mate not to be confused with Garr's mate Nige or Basils mate Becky"

You beat me to it! image

  • Forecast is dry (just) and sunny but a tad chilly to start with. Not TOO many leaves down yet so hope for the best. Long trousers methinks.

    Any last minute entrants?

  • Climbing cassette fitted. Looking forward to it!

  • What you put on?

It's quite doable on 25/12 but I could only get a 28/11. And I am compact so utter wuss league. Though I once tried to do Staples on the SS Dustboy (single speed heavy old barge). Movement moved from forward to lateral about half way up and ended up in the stingers. LOL!

  • It's a 27, with a compact.

I like to spin image Most rides seen to be 95+, with average of 100 on the turbo.

  • Just had a look at the weather forecast for tomorrow, looks like we're going to be blessed with a sunny morning image

  • So DB am I riding over to your house and we both riding there  (thats option A) or are you going to be a total gaylord and drive your car to the top of Newlands like a total gaylord wuss? (thats option B)

If you pick option B I will go on about it endlessly for the next 4 years.
