Bearsted - I found it quite tough in London too. A bit stiff for the first couple of K then just generally weary for the rest. Still great fun though and I love seeing the sites and recognising iconic places and street names on the way. The bands were amazing. Finished a bit slower than yesterday, but maybe that was why . Loved seeing Mo Farah when I was heading out at 2K and he was on his way back at 8K. Must have been at least 100m clear. Inspiring. Totally shattered now and still have half of London's grit in my eyes, but very content
It's not so bad Vixx. Less crowded than GNR that's for sure! They start people in waves. It's incredibly well organised - (until you want a small shirt when you're slow!) Toilet queues went the fastest I've ever known. Baggage drop to perfection (and collection too) Loud speaker announcements telling each wave when to get down to the start line. You could be thinking of the other one - British 10K London which has previosly been a nightmare. This year they're having waves too rather than 32,000 all setting off at the same moment. Still fun . I think it clashes with something for me.
RLTW - that's possibly the mistake I've made. I will have a look at it for the future. I can feel a 10k PB coming on at some point though. I just need to find a good one to enter.
Vixx- I'd agree with the others. Not too crowded, and less tripping over other runners's heels than the London marathon. Organisation like clockwork too. I didn't see Mo but did walk past Steph Twell and Scott Overall at the start. A friend was 4 behind Mo in the loo queue- poor chap kept being asked for photo opportunities!
Nice to meet Bearsted too at the finish. I was tempted to have a kip in Green park, but made it home before a 90minute snooze prior to this evenings 2 mile race
Less than 16 weeks to go (so it says on FB) Sounds so close.
Old Shadowfax - I don't know how you could go out and run 2 more miles after London's tiring heat. I settled down for a very contented 12 hour snooze just lifting my eyelids for a plate of chips and a glass of wine Love that feeling.
RLTW- that sounds a much better idea. Not surprisingly i was over 20secs slower than last year's 2 mile race! The beer last night tasted particularly good however
Mmm- I know. But it was part of a series of 4 races and if I do them all, I may get a trophy at the end of it. I've won my age category for the last 2 years just by turning up to all the races even though I've only ever come 1st once out of all 8 races (the only race I've ever won!). I was pretty stiff on the club run last night but the legs eased up after a mile or so. I splashed out on some trail shoes today- I'm doing the 3 Peaks in September and our local running shop had a 20% off day, so it would have been rude not to take advantage!
Happy birthday Bearsted- hope they're working you too hard!
Fiona- they were Sauconys- but I can't remember which model! I tried on a pair of Innov8's which had a great tread but really narrow heels. Even walking round the shop nearly had me falling off the outside edges, so I thought the chance of a twisted ankle on the mountains would be too high.
Ran a 1500m time trial this evening. 8 secs behind my PB but after my efforts on Monday I guess i shiuldn't be surprised

Stratfors is nice to run around - hope you had a good week Graham
Evening all.

Well done RLTW, OS and Bearsted for your London efforts!
It is a race I've looked at, but I keep hearing it's really crowded - is that right, or is it just as crowded as any BUPA event?
Vixx - definitely not too crowded as send off in waves

Cool - might have a look at that one for the future. Thank you!

I have a few lined up

Cheers Vixx
OS - I thought you said you weren't going to bother to do that 2 mile race!!!

Happy Birthday, BP
(Did you mean to type a 'not' in there, OS ? )
Well, the Bank Holiday sunshine seems to have vanished!
struggled a little with a 4.5 miler this morning.
Planning to do 9 on Friday - I won't expect parkrun fireworks this week.
Happy New Shoes, OS - you're right, it would have been rude.
Oops- yes I, I certainly did! Sorry BP!
Thanks OS and XL
Bear - hope you had a good birthday yesterday.
OS - which shoes did you go for?
XL - it has been really poor weather this week. I've got wet every morning.
Sorry bearsted, missed your birthday !! Happy birthday for yesterday
Cheers mr sj and Fiona

OS - you are clocking up some serious speed mileage - anyone would think you were training to be able to run all night.....
Oooh maybe I will Vixx- but not all night! Although I suppose that if you ran all night you might avoid waking up to that awful 4am feeling.
I'm just hoping that the weather is kind to us....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHIELSY!
Happy birthday Shielsy
Shielsy - Happy birthday
OS - I quite like the Innov8s I have a pair that I wear in the snow. They are the cleanest pair of shoes I own.
Happy Birthday, Shielsy.
Steady 9 miles in the sun this morning, to star this last day of half term, and end another good month of running.
Hoping that parkrun will be decent tomorrow, then maybe a blast next week when we have the pacers.
Have a great weekend, everypeople.
Anyone racing ?
Happy Birthday Shielsy!!!!
Happy birthday Shielsy- well the last 26 minutes of it anyway! Hope you've had a lovely day.
Its our 100th parkrun tomorrow so there's a bit of a party. Sadly I'm working in the morning so i hope there's some cake left when I get there...
