Feel a bit panicky now! Last minute decision not to defer entry and I've got to drive up from Leicester on the day - will need to leave at 5am!. Planning to park in South Shields and get the metro up to the start line. Anybody know of a good place to park that has easy access to the metro station and won't be too busy?
Join the club on the early starts but it's all good.
Oddly I'm not feeling nervous at all and thyinking I might just run it comfortably and average 8 minute miles. Just enjoy the atmosphere rather than go for a PR
It's my 4th GNR. All my previous ones have involved a few of us making a long weekend of it. Last year was my least favourite. Spectator numbers and general atmosphere was well down - due to the rain I reckon. Hopefully the rain will stay away this year but not looking good.
Hi all, just in Sunderland. Purchased the metro day saver for £4 already. Catching the metro in for 9.20 izh. just having an all you can eat chinese buffef. Yummy. Why change a habit, guess its better than stella.
Liecester fan - everywhere will be busy! Park on the Leas, a large grassed area that runs from the 12 mile point to the finish. From here you can get a shuttle bus to the start (about £3.50). this saves the 20 minute walk to the metro station see page 15 of your info book. the shuttle bus takes about 30 minutes to get from S Shields to the start.
Leicester fan, park in East Boldon - just of A19 and on Metro NE36 Metro's on Station Road
direct line into Haymarket on metro for start, like KPO catch 09:20 Metro. Return on Metro from South Shields and change onto South Hylton train at Pelaw. Good luck with the run.
KPO - great look! my winter kit's still in the loft, so it is a MacMillan vest and shorts for me, regardless of the weather. I've changed my usual pre race habit of pancetta and pasta and had steak with green salad and jacket potato, interested to see if it makes any difference.
Have enjoyed the runners carb buffet the hotel put on tonight but nam now wishing the live band would go away so I can sleep.
i know they mean well and thought it was a good idea but please someone come and unplug those dam guitars, plus they are slaughtering Eric Clapton ! Nt ggood see you all in the morning !
good luck and please don't be silly and run with someone else's number. Enough said.
Good luck to all my friends running tomorrow, hope you all smash it !
shrek - hope the hotels ok and will be riding past it tomorrow morning on an early morning bike ride.
Jon2 - from previous experience they make each and every runner show their number to gain access to their starting pen so Liz is gonna be a hard one to pull off !
Agree with cc2 re less is more in the rain, layers and long sleeves are great when its cold but in the rain you want shorts and vest, skin is waterproof, tights and long sleeve tops aren't !
look forwardr to race reports and the 2014 thread !
Just need to find a way of keeping my running belt dry (with my phone, ipod shuffle etc).
All the best to everyone running with their legitimate numbers.
May the marshalls banish those who continuously try to flout the system. Just get yourselves organised next time and I'm sure if you're keen enough you can get a place in the proper manner just like the rest of us.
Going to try and sleep soon. Thought I would be less nervous second time round but it seems not to be the case sadly. Good luck to everyone tomorrow, hope the weather isn't quite as terrible as forecast!
Have a great day all you GNR runners. I'm very jealous, especially as I'll be working but hopefully will get back to see some of it on TV, so give us a wave . I think it was Ranulf Fiennes who said there's no so thing as bad weather, only inadequate clothing!
Loved watching the coverage - so much so that I've signed up for the reminder service for next year's run - maybe I will do it again Looking forward to reading all your reports later

the Leas was my original plan but then I'm sure i read that you wouldn't be able to drive away until later on in the day if you go there?

The usual sore throat rears its ugly head just in time for the run.
Cough cough, bring on the rain and the wind. Hope I wake up feeling better

Terrible night's sleep - guess I'm more nervous than I thought!
Good luck to everyone today - let's hope the weather isn't as bad as they say it's going to be......
See you on next year's thread!
Given up on getting back to sleep. Didn't sleep particularly well but certainly a step up on my 2012 horror show!
I slept like a baby - had to drag myself out of bed. That walk around York yesterday must've done it as I went to bed at 10pm and fell fast asleep.
Now tucking into a big bowl of porridge with cinnamon and blueberries and multi-seeded toast.
Best of luck everyone.
