Well the online entries came alive at 08:00 on Monday 8th September, at 08:06 I had my entry in and by 10:00 on Tuesday 9th September all entries had gone, excepting the reserved 500 lottery places.
Has anyone else been successful in beating the entries rush for the Bath Half?

This became full so early. I know the race director was saying about having more places for 2005 but at this rate they will need at least double!
The remaining 2,000 places are allocated to the charities and business teams, which together raised over £275,000 in 2003.
The speed of response from our 'regulars' and last year's 'refusniks' was such that if we hadn't held back 500 of the general public places for a ballot, there was a danger we would be sold out before new applicants had had a chance to post their application forms back to us. As it was we sold out 3,000 places in just 12 days - including over 1,000 on-line entries in the 24hours after we opened for new applicants - (compared with 4 weeks in 2003), something of a record even by our standards.
Our entry numbers are limited by restrictions of space on the one carriageway currently available for the runners. We are now in discussions with the council to see if they would authorise us to close both carriageways, thereby enabling us to double our entry numbers in 2005. Initial reaction has been supportive.
Regards. Race Director
Yippee, never done a half tho, most I've done is 10 miles and that was in 1991
Heeeeeeelllllllppppppp
I remember that they have done so on a couple occassions, as I would very much like to sit in with the sub-1:25 group.
No idea about RW pacers Wrinty but I could well be going for 1:20 myself so perhaps we could form our own pacing group nearer the time? If not going for a pb, I'll probably be helping to pace my sis to a poss 1:40 in which case others are welcome to tag along.
These days a 1:25 Half feels like a major achievement for me, but I have a feeling that I could get back down to 1:23 - which is the time that the RW pacers did in the 2002 Balf Half for the sub-1:25 group.
Maybe scope for setting multiple targets?
Perfect - 1:19
Good - 1:22
Happy with - 1:25
Anyone else?
Since taking running back up five years ago the best that I had managed was 1:25:32 in the 1999 Windsor HM. But in recent weeks I have managed 1:24:43 at Cricklade and then 1:25:23 in Lausanne.
Bath will be my next Half and given my recent improvements 1:23 seems a realistic target. Though Bath is a flat, fast course so who knows what may be possible.
I am just hoping for 2.00 and I would be very happy with that!
I won't be; just want a picturesque half and to run with Sis. I ran with her in the Bristol half recently and can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable races I have ever done; she got a PB, I got to spend time with her (precious now they have kids), and didn't have to worry about my own time.
Having said that, if I feel fit I'll go for it!
See you there 1/2 MG...
This will be my first half of the spring season. Can I do another PB? Can I? Can I? Since I started 2 years ago I've managed
1:56-1:48-1:43-1:38(Bath)-1:35-1:33-1:32.
For the last 2 I tried to pace for 1:30. Currently the law of diminishing returns says that I won't get there. Can we swap numbers Wrinty?
I'm going for sub 1.30 too, same last half time as you (Bath last year). Good luck.
So I ensured that I would be quick off the mark for 2004 and had my entry in six minutes after public places went on offer - thank goodness for online entry!!!
Hopefully I can buck the trend as I am running very well at present, otherwise given the trend that has developed "Blisters" should overtake me by the 2005 event:-)
I think the engine will need a service by then.
are you doing Taunton Marathon in april?
