Concurve Gore-Tex Rain Jacket

Went out for a 5 mile training run this afternoon in the pouring rain, absolute stair rods in fact.Wore my newly acquired Concurve Gore-Tex Jacket and i,m well pleased with it, kept me dry and allowed me to breathe okay without any undue build up of sweat inside. I seen one or two threads on the subject of Rain Jackets,but i can say for once i,ve got me a decent piece of gear.It cost me £80 but i,ve wasted a similar amount on two cheaper versions that just would'nt allow you to breathe properly.Any one else agree.

I'm about to take the plunge and buy a KIMM pac-lite jacket. Tad more expensive but I'm planning on using it for mountain runs and such like. Any one tried one, if so are they worth the cash (£130 ish)

I've got a Concurve Extend too and it's fantastic in cold wet weather. I don't tend to wear it at this time of year though, I prefer my showerproof gilet whilst it's still quite warm.

I did consider the KIMM paclite jacket when I bought the Concurve. It is a lot more lightweight than the concurve and I dare say that it folds up smaller. The thing that put me off though was the lack of vents. The concurve is a great design in that it has chest and back vents as well as venting cuffs and you need them even though it is goretex. I know that paclite is 15% more breathable than the 2 layer goretex but I still reckon that you'd need vents.

I haven't seen a paclite jacket by any manufacturer that has chest and back vents.

OT was it a Concurve Extend, that sounds too cheap, or was it on offer ??

Only wondered coz i was thinking of the Extend or the Quantum

Hullo ITCHYRINGER, it is a Concurve Extend.I bought it from Start Fitness in Beverley,East Yorks. It was reduced from £130 to £80 in a sale they had a while ago.They are a Newcastle based company and are on the internet, you may be able to find their website address in the Runners World Mag.

I have the same jacket OT and I would agree about it's virtues. Make sure you wash it correctly (i.e not in washing powder) in order to maintain the waterproofing and breathability. Nikwax is the type of stuff to get. There are two bottles.. Tech Wash and TX Direct Wash-in, about £10 the pair. Well worth it to prolong the life of an expensive jacket.

I ran 19 miles in a blizzard in mine back in Feb and got home with a totally dry and warm upper body! Well worth the extra over a cheap jacket.

Phoned Northern Runner yesterday. They have most sizes £60. Ordered it and it has arrived this morning. Top class service.

Finally got to give the jacket a proper test today. Would you believe its taken nearly 2 months of recieving it to get a decent downpour!! Anyway it passed the test with flying colours, excellent bit of kit :-)
