I'm looking forward to the pint, but unfortunately christmas puddings are on my 'don't touch with a barge pole list!' I was trying to find out from the organiser whether slow people did this race last year and he laughed and said 'there are still people who haven't come back from last year'. I'm none the wiser!
Still not got my number yet, will let you know as soon as it comes through...now wouldn't that be a shame if your christmas puddy went to waste.....?? My latest running exploits was a 10 mile run in 1 hour 28 mins. Would like to run this race in approx 50 minutes if I can. What about you?
Fido - you should have your number by now - I only posted my form last thursday evening and got it yesterday. I thought you were slow - 50 minutes sounds very quick to me for a total beginner - I'm impressed!
Debbo - Hopefully my number will have come through in the post tonight. When I did the 10 miler I felt slow - out of the 500 runners, I was in the last 40ish runners. Maybe I am hoping for too much with my time - but like to set myself a challenge. Look forward to meeting you on the run - I will look out for your number.
Any more numbers?? I've just looked through the thread and we have: Cumbriandy 113 Happykat 241 Debbo 231 Mr Debbo 232 I'll need some encouragement from all of you who will be on your way back when I'm still puffing and sweating on the way out, hoping a miracle happens and I make it in under an hour! Deb
I really enjoyed this race - sunny cold weather, gorgeous views, a friendly crowd and a christmas pudding too!! Didn't find any other forumites though. Managed to improve my best by five minutes to 57 minutes (only my second 10k) Deb
Debbo - I enjoyed it too. Snow on the fells (first time this year) and a really good spirit, could well be a 'must do' for future years.
Think I spotted you both round about the three mile point (you were on your way out) but, having gone off quicker than intended I hadn't the breath to call out to you. Obviously missed you at start and finish and didn't spot any other numbers.
I've also done a PB (by more than 10 minutes to just inside 45) but as the previous 10k was my first ever organised event and several month ago, I'm not getting over excited.
CumbriAndy, I would agree about this being a 'must do' - I would like to do it again next year, although if it had been on saturday it might not have been so enjoyable - horizontal sleet is not my idea of fun! Sorry I missed you and slyboy. Happykat didn't make it - injured and resting! Deb
spoken to the organiser today - results still at the printers, apparently - delayed due to lack of working hours over the festive period!! Should be out this nest week.
results have arrived on paper when I got home from work toinight. As they are handwritten I'm re-typing them. I'm halfway through and now ready for bed! I'll finish them Friday night and upload them to my site as soon as I can (probably around 9pm)
In the meantime those of you who requested copies from the race should be getting them now...
