Mimi Anderson - M2M record breaker!

Last night she completed her run of the entire length of Ireland  - a distance of 345 miles...!    She broke the previous record of 4 days 1h and 39m set by Sharon Gayter earlier this year in a new World Record time of 3 days 15 hours 36 mins & 23s.

  • How can you call a course record a world record?

Easy, I set a world record for eating my tea tonight.

A 10k course record is just that but I guess people view longer course point 2 point records as uncomparable. So length of Ireland can't be compared with length of France so it is a course record and a world record.

At bit like my tea - no-one else can eat my tea otherwise it owuld be their tea.

I get your point it really is just a course record but they can blag a WR if they like.

  • Oh come on me..face!

Well, she doesn't just hold the British record for the race - i.e. the fastest time by a British runner when there have been faster times set by runners from other countries. She has the fastest overall time set for the race... ever.

  • Here's a question - Does it REALLY matter what you call it? The achievement itself is what matters - and that was bloody amazing!

  • Amazing, congratulations Mimi!!!

  • I have just seen this, thank you for your messages and support they are much appreciated.  We were extremely lucky with the Irish weather and I'm thrilled with my tiime image extactic in fact!!

The difference between a course record and a World record on something like JOGLE or M2M is that there is no set route, the person going for the WR can choose any route they like hence my route will have been slightly different to anyone elses. The world record is point to point.  Also we have to meet very strict quidelines as set out by the GWR, official starters, finishers and get witess statements all the way down the country (not easy in some of the very quiety locations!!) to prove without question we did what we did.

It was an amazing experience and I was joined by Irish runners along the way which was fantastic!

    Thanks again. Mimi
