Swimming warm ups

Any cheats for swimming warm ups? I find I have to do 3 or 4 sets of 10 - 12 lengths before I get a decent rhythm, and then I can swim all day. But 40 lenghts warm up seems a bit much....

  • am usually pushed for time, so do a short (300m) 'warm up', stretch a bit, then into steady paced sets, then kick, then sprints at the end. This post is of absolutely no use to you whatsoever.

ummmm. How long do you usually swim for - do you go for time/ m's.

  • If im doing long continuous swim - i just dive staight in :o)

    100 steady
    100 easy
    100 steady building to hard

Stretch a bit then get on with main sets
  • Swim b/w 80-120 lengths. which is hour - hour/half with breaks.

I just find a start of week, and keep getting stronger - Tuesday I did 7 sets of 10, followed by a straight 50, the last 5 of which were flat out.
I;ve not been swimming for long tho so am mainly working on getting sustainable, steady technique - for ultimate ironman goal, naturally!

  • Imagine a shark behid you?
  • or a frisky david dickensen....that would def get me moving
  • daz. your mind is a dark and dingy place.
  • lol

but there's SO much material there!
  • dark.. dingy.. and empty
  • hmmm i wonder what i should do with those eggs that have gone past there best before date at home. might try a bit of target practise on saturday.....hmmmm where to go, hmmm what to throw at.....

let me see i need somewhere quiet like the tooting track and field, need something nice and bright - white with blue spots sounds ideal

something pretty ugly so i get to enjoy throwing them, and, and last but not least......something moving very very slowly!!!!
  • .......attention drawn to eds pic....
