Thames Path Challenge 2013

Hello everyone,

The Thames Path Challenge is back for 2013, after a very successful 2012! We had some fantastic participants take part, raising thousands upon thousands of money for charity in the process.

There's the choice of taking on the full 100km marathon as a walk, or running it as an ultra marathon. We also offer a variety of choices on a 50km version, which you can choose to take on during the day or night. You can also mix it up a bit, by walking or running as much as you choose.

Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions, I'd be happy to help. Has anyone taken it on before? Would you recommend it?

Looking forward to hearing from you all.

  • Hi, do you have a date for this event?

  • Hi,

Yes the dates are 14-15 September 2013

  • Sorry, I didn`t realise I would have to raise a "minimum" of 400 pounds on top of the entry fee. It wasn`t made very clear in your original post that this was not a proper running race. It all sounded great until I saw the cost. I just cannot justify spending nearly 500 on one event.

  • I guess you could run it the weekend before for free

  • What a great idea.

  • Millsy1977, all that you need to pay is £85 registration fee (if wanting to take on the 100km). It's then a commitment to raise a minimum of £400 for charity via fundraising - we offer complete support to help you do this.

Sorry to have confused you, hope this clears things up

  • a legally binding commitment?

  • ??500 ? That's more than Ironman racing !
  • Sorry that doesn't really clear things up. As the sponsorship target is a minimum then 85 +400 = 485 . So money that has to be given over to do the race is 15 shy of ??500. Very expensive compared to other similar races.
  • in the event that I paid my £85, but I was only able to raise £50 in sponsorship, would I be personally liable for the additional £350?

  • They send the boys round with the baseball bats

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! are you kidding?????????? i was actually interested in this as an ultra run until i read all the above !!!

  • Still haven't got an answer about the sponsorship "target" yet.
  • They can't make you pay up. Otherwise, you would in effect be buying the place and then they would be subject to VAT regulations. ??85 still looks high when you can do LDWA events for a lot less.
  • What do you get for your £485?

  • ok... no need for the hard sell!

  • Bet they will sell you a charity t shirt
  • what's wrong with London races, starting with Virgin London Marathon?  where all this money goes, all charity (or convinient excuse of pocketing), my advice is go somewhere else in Europe and enjoy running , without begging hundreds for somebody you don't know
