Might well end up doing Lake vrynwy as a marathon effort run. Shouldn't leave any marks then pre chester but could be good for gauging fitness. Boring but usual reasons really.
Good mileage that is Jason D. Just 6 in the morning. (47:24) and 6.4 in evening (51:00) both recovery runs before tomorrows interval session. training is definetly paying off this year. Had some cracking pb's.
Oh good luck with the 300m reps tomorrow. I avoid anything under 400m like the plaig. Never completed a session of 200's without getting an injury. tomorow is 12x400m in 75 secs with 1:10-1:15 recoveries. This session has just got a nice shiny new 5k pb of 15:54 (5:07m/m) well happy with that.
Hi, if anyone does fancy that Cheshire-based 20 miler three weeks before (I appreciate you wouldn't want to be racing it necessarily, but it might make a last long training run a bit more bearable), you can read some recent feedback here:
Fab track session tonight! I have got a Facebook group together to help with motivation for speedwork and we had a brutal one tonight! 5 sets of 5x300mtr @ 5K pace with 100mtr jog recovery and 5 min recovery run between each set. Surprised at the end to find total mileage was almost 10m! With my morning recovery run, brings the day up to a respectable 15.54 and legs feeling good again! Hooray!
Decided to get the P&D book and to anyone considering it - get it- really useful and very different to other 'running' books I've read. Going to go for the up to 55 mile plan and see how it goes.
Torquay runner this is the plan that I will be following, and although this will be my first marathon I am hoping it will get me round in about 4 hours. Plan officially starts on 3rd June . There is a whole thread dedicated to P&D for an Autumn marathon over on the training section if you are interested.
Wona, hello. I was looking at the pics from last years race and the weather looked perfect - fingers crossed for this year.
London Bupa 10k for me on Monday am really hoping for a sub 47.xx
Brutal session that is Jason D. How do your legs cope in the days after. I have gotten fond of my wednesday session because the overall session volume allows for a quick recovery time but still gives a good V02 test. Well it used to. It seems to very gradually heading in the direction of lactate threshold training as the pace is 1.5secs a 400m quicker than 5k pb pace. Used to be a lung screaming session last year in july. Now its a different sort of benefit really.
Torquayrunner thats a cracking book. But its not as easy to follow without a garmin as pace judgement is so hard when needing to run at a specific pace. My garmin broke in late January/early feb. since then its been a ??9.99casio stopwatch job and mesuring routes on internet. And running by feel.
TR- great book- with a few tweaks- especially the weeks where it suggests tune up races on a Saturday!
andy- lol! good question! First time I had run that session and it was brutal- looked easy on paper, but it was a total of 5m at 5k pace...could definitely feel it in my legs- especially with a hilly 5k race yesterday only 2 days later... My legs decided that it would be a tempo effort
good speed endurance session for me yesterday with a clubmate, 6 x 1 mile in 5:55 5:55 5:53 5:52 5:55 5:56 (aimimg for 5:55). with recovery jogs of 2mins. and the warm up/down managed to rack up 12 miles in all.
nice rest day today. which brings up 68.7m for the week. happy with that
it wasnt to bad to be honest Jason, the pace felt managable for the lot really. if i had to i could of done 10m but would of had to dig i reckon on 10th one. don't want to rush it and peak to soon and get injured or anythin.
cg- 55/60 is top running for sub 4, buddy. I would be worried that 100+ would take too long/ need too much recovery. Especially bearing in mind your recent injury....No point in miles for miles sake

I've seen a a Cheshire based 20M race three weeks before Chester Marathon. Would this be too close to race or not?

I would be happy too! 2 mins faster than my 5k time! Lol! Top effort
I only dream of a 16m 5k. I'm still happy with my 27.45 PB
