No, what I mean is that if you are who I think you are then you are no. 29 in the uk marathon rankings this year with your chester result but there is no one above you in that list who ran chester on 6th oct 2013.....And the only person ranked on run britain called peter barlow is V35 and looks nothing like the photos of the bloke who beat you to get a hoodie.......actually I will shut up cos not really my business whatever thesituation!! I just wany the right person to get the hoodie!!
Bev - thanks. Sorry I misunderstood. I think he's not on the list because he's not in runbritains list of athletes. Most people on it are club members, but I see you're described as "unattached"' so there must be others ways of getting on!
Well... that assumes it's the same person. But same name. both no club affiliation despite brilliant times. And M55+ age category 18 months ago does improve the liklihood.
But, to be fair, that person was not the only one of the 4012 runners finishing Wilmslow 2012 who got finish times but no split times. In fact there were (I think) 7 like that. And according to the current provisional Chester results, he's not alone there - seems to be 3 people with a finish time but no intermediate times. So it could be just really bad luck that random chip errors have struck the timing of both these brilliant runs.
Assuming it is the same chap, if these issues are all down to random chip errors, then my schoolboy stats say that there is a perfectly legitimate probability of him suffering chip failure in the 2 races, something like (7/4012 x 3/3019) = 1 chance in 556,772
This is why no one is saying there is any malpractice here. There's a perfectly rational explanation.
Just been for my first post race run. 6mi. Felt good to be out running again, although still lots of aches/pains/twinges in my poor old legs. Plan for me now is to just plod along building up another base ready to start proper training for London in December.
I'm a bit late coming to the party getting to late forties before being tempted by the inaugural Preston Guild marathon last year. I dream of being healthy enough to bring a close to my marathoning career after the next one in 2032 - and if I had to put a finger in the air, it will be my 12th... but you never know!
I thought they were confirmed now on the TDL website....mine got bumped by 2 seconds...not sure how that works...but hey, I'm still happy with my 3:30:44 for my first Marathon. My target was a 3:30..
Now that I've just said that.... Looking at the TDL website and the results appear to have gone....No Chester Marathon listed (at the moment) for October 6th 2013..
Am I going mad...they were there weren't they!? weren't they???
The website says that they've only removed the names of people disqualified for discarding water bottles or gel packets outside the designated drop zones.

I think he's not on the list because the Chester results are still provisional and, for whatever reason, he's never recorded a notable time before
Never recorded a notable time before? That's unfair Sam.
It's already been said on this thread that he managed a fantastic 1:30 half marathon last year. A truly excellent achievement for someone of that age.

CHEAT!

15West, what's your goal for London?
1st place.
I don't know...currently sub 2.49 I guess. All depends how the training goes.
What are your plans REM?
we all say that REM....but once it gets a grip on you.....
That will be 26. Might do another .2 at the end......
Wow. Don't blame you for stopping then! When did you decide to do 26?
May as well keep going to 50 now I reckon. Or even 100?
I don't think REM has the ability to do 30 marathons, let alone 50.
Go on REM... prove me wrong
Not falling for that. It has taken me 18 years to do 25, at that rate I will be 101 by the time I have done 100. How many for you Runny Knows?

Does anyone know how long it takes for results to be confirmed? Does it depend on enquiries???
Hi Bev...

Yes, they've gone. Maybe we all cheated.
Maybe we did...but if we were cheating...I would have wanted a sub 2:00 hr time...or would that be a little 'too' obvious!!! (I can dream).
The website says that they've only removed the names of people disqualified for discarding water bottles or gel packets outside the designated drop zones.
How many names are left?

Where does it say that?
