I swam 5 times in the sea at Bournemouth over the weekend, wearing my Pirate hat. I don't think I've ever seen the sea so calm and it warmed up to 11 degrees so some of us even managed to break the 2 hour barrier
At Thorpe again tomorrow having apparently not put off last week's 3 newbies by the cold. Hoping for warmer after so much sun and that one of the longer loops is finally open.
Not tried Shepperton although I hear good things. Thorpe works well for after work as I swim with colleagues, it's easy to get to from where we work and easy for everyone to get home.
Was a lovely swim tonight, warmer and the 750 loop was open; you could even see the bottom in parts! Funny how the sun brings out more people - wonder what they'll do if it's horrible on race day
Shepperton is nice, better showers at Thorpe (just), less weed at Shepperton, but Thorpe is the Daddy when the 1500 loop is open. Easier sighting at Thorpe too.
Anyone going to Bosworth Water Park tomorrow? I know Evil Pixie is going, just wondering if anyone else will be heading out there from the forum? It would be good to put faces to names
Would like to try Bosworth some time - its not that far away. Rutland Water was certainly warm enough last night - first time in this year. It showed, as well. I'm sure the wetsuit shrunk over the winter!
JPG first time OW or first time at bosworth? if its first time OW they'll want you to have a guide for your first session. May be worth sending the club an email beforehand, but i've seen / heard people just turn up on their first and have a club member go round with them.
JPG if you want someone to swim with I am willing.... I am not a member of the tri club but I took my sis for her first OW swim there last week with no problems. I cant say I am an expert but quite happy to splash around with you.... that sounds slightly odd...
Paperman... let me know if you venture over to Bosworth and you can update me on your season.
Thanks EllieO, thats very kind of you, I had an email back from a club member, he told me to make myself known when I arrive, It will be nice to meet some pirates.

In the Blue - Have you tried Shepperton lake? 400m and 750m loops open all the time. Really nice down there.

Maybe in July....
No weeds at the moment in Thorpe dusty or at least not on the bits that are open, I can't remember how far up the lake they were on the 1500 loop.
