.I think you lot are at a much better advantage this year as you have been able to post on this thread and start to interact form the time you got chosen..in the past many did not start posting until the final voting started ...
I would like to back up what Seren and Sleepy have said about some of the flack that you may get. Some of it is banter so just roll with it. Some of what happened last year to some really really lovely people was vile.
I have been on and off the forums since I started running 3 1/2 years ago (not before as I didn't even know magazines about running existed!) and was criticised for only having several hundred posts rather than several thousand! Mind you I was in the busy lifestyle category so probably didn't have as much time to post

Absolutely best of luck to those who have made it this far and congratulations to all who made it to boot camp. I found BC an amazing day and am still in contact with some of the folks I met there - we have even met up after. My fellow 4 Paris runners are the nicest people you could ever wish to have met and I am so grateful for the amazing experience that I had.
If you have any questions about the process, event, forums then please ask away.
Incidentally I knocked anothe 5 mins off my marathon time in October so it works (I'm still slow but not quite as slow as I was!)
also if you want to find the banter and are scared on wandering onto long running threads.( most of which are friendly mind )....you can always look at the clubhouse tab as these are mainly current debates and nothing to do with running..............so are easy to just join into the arguements...........
We weren't allowed to say if we had got through either - so this helps a lot

I agree with Sleepy Bear, the nature of the competition seems to annoy some people but I love that it brings new people to the forums. I like following training threads from new (or new-ish) members, it would soon get very boring if the Asics 26.2 runners were only selected from the most prolific posters
EmmaC - you are right, vile is the word for some of the stuff that went on. I know someone who was at BC last year and I think it was a huge surprise after meeting such friendly, supportive people at the event to suddenly be the subject of so much snark once they followed the instructions from RW and started interacting on the Forums. I'm not even sure if they have come back to RW or if they still think we a bunch of jealous trolls who just pick on newbies for taking the prizes away.
Seren is right too, feel free to jump on the new threads in Clubhouse if you want an easy intro to the Forums

EmmaC - thanks so much for dropping in on the us freshers. Really well done on last year! I agree that being more open is the better option so RW made a good decision to let people come clean in advance this year.
No, not a Traffic Warden, In a recent survey I was apparently the third least trusted profession coming above Estate Agents and Journalists!!

As for all the comments about negative posts/ill-treatment of hopefuls last year, I guess unfortunately that it is all too easy to throw insults at someone over the internet who you've never met - at the end of the day, you just have to feel sorry for someone who gets their kicks that way!
I'm looking forward to the questions about my running, lifestyle, ambitions etc and anything else, we'll just have to roll with
chin up and all that!

So far I have met loads of friendly and helpful people on here. So for any negative comments that we may get, just remember all those positive ones so far!
the only bad mechanics ive met are the ones that tried to con me once at reg vardy, the rest ive met have been so helpful. Are mechanics really the third least trusted professions?

Skinny dipping... I went skinny dipping once in St Lucia and, I have to say, loved every minute of it. Although I think you need to be careful when choosing your venue - I certainly won't be repeating that somewhere off Southend Pier in the middle of October! There's only so times you can blame the cold...
I have always taught my son to hold doors for ladies - he is a proper little gent, so proud
I do enjoy a nice, cold lager. Not very exciting, I'll admit, but I am a bit of a lager snob - got to be Budweiser, none of that cheap rubbish! When I'm cooking, I'll crack out the wine and pretend I know what difference it makes when chosing Shiraz or Merlot...
And, as I said, we're alcohol lawyers, so we're responsible for keeping all those lovely local boozers open!
