  • Didn't realise Ladybower had moved to Castleton.

  • It was heavy, but we did it. Nearest town on the list on the dropdown menu
  • That's me registered for my first ultra. The only reason I have entered is because it is now closer to me following it's move to Castelton image

  • ok, not sure if Im asking a daft question or not but whats the differance between the ultra and normal options on the registration page ?

    thanks

  • Hi Em

I asked the same question and was told that they are actually the same race but the organiser couldnt change it on the website. I entered through the 'ultra' option

  • As you went to the trouble of moving it a bit closer it would be rude not to register.  First ultra aghh!

  • I was thinking of doing the 20 miles as part of the build up to the York Marathon ---but is the finish of the 20  near the start ??? I have noticed it is a lap course  - many thanks

  • The start and finish are at the same place.
  • First ultra. I'm in. Oh my giddy aunt, what have I done?

Think I'm in too. Hoping the 12 marathons I did last year are a good base to build on ....
  • Looking forward to seeing you there guys.

Just to let you know, registration is back open following some kind of glitch. I have just taken ownership of a second marquee as well which means the TLC tent will fit more of you in this year.

    see you soon

  • Can we make the second marquee a beer tent!??? image image

  • Enjoyed the 50 last year, so it seems rude not to enter again this year image

  • This is tempting. Furthest I have run is a marathon and looking for a bigger challenge. Wouldnt have a clue how to fuel a 50 mile race or what to carry etc though. Decisions image

If you pay for the 50 and wimp out at 35 does that count as a 35m ultra done, or just a nice training runimage

  • Does anyone know the height gain on over the 50 Miles?

  • how and when do we receive confirmation of entry, when do our race numbers arrive. I haven't heard anything yet. My wife tried to phone Steven King tonight but it was a bit of a one way conversation.

  • thinking of the doing the 20 as a step up towards a marathon. do you know if there is a time limit?

  • booktrunkbooktrunk ✭✭✭

You are unlikely to take the time it will take the slow 50 milers to finish image So i'm sure you would be within the time limit.

It's a 5 mile small lap, then 1, 2, or 3 times around another 15 mile lap.  So i'm sure there will be no issues with you plodding around doing 20 at whatever speed you can manage as long as it's more then about 2 miles an hour image

Good idea. Personally I find the underfoot to be a little hard-going on my feet and it can be windy. In a way, it`s a fair bit tougher than a normal 20 mile run even if you don`t `race` it imho.

  • I'm in for the 35 mile option. Anyone know how much navigation is required - is the route fairly obvious? Map reading's not my strong point - I'm sort of hoping as long as I don't fall in the reservoir I'm going the right way?

I'm seriously thinking of doing the 35 but just trying to plod around as Leicester marathon in 3 weeks later.

From the map on their website it doesn't look to bad I think they have practise runs as well take a look at their Facebook page

Hey booktrunk - I'm also doing Leicester tho have entered for the 50 so will be using it as a recovery runimage

  • RR - There will be minimal navigation. All very straightforward.

Good to hear - I can get lost just going round the corner from my houseimage

Wish I could pay for 50 (not much more) but if I wanted stop at 35 and have an official 35 time. Not a DNF for the 50.

Hehe enter both and wear two numbers then I could choose image or do it all and get 2 medals.

I don't understand when you apply online i'm being dense you get the page at runners world that says are you applying for the ladybower 50 mile ultra series event or the 50 mile event.  It's the same event what's the difference?
