Tell you what, Mixy, I gave up supporting Welsh rugby years ago. I can't stand the constant heartache. I prefer to torment myself with flimsy attempts at running instead (much like the boys in the Welsh squad). Still, gave you lot a run for your money on the weekend, though.
they certainly did - started to begin regretting my previous message at half time!! It would have been me running then if my legs didn't hurt so much from running the Cheddar Half the day before!
I was actually very pleased with the time - finished in 1hour 44m 37, breaking 1hr45 for the first time in years. I ran Plymouth Half earlier this year in 1hour50, so at this rate of progress I should be sub-1 hour and World Champion in about 4 years!!
That sounds sooo fast, Mixy. I am doing my longest distance yet tonight (7.5 m) and hope to do it in about 85 mins so I've got a bit of a way to go before I catch up with you (Iin more ways than one). I reckon it's that Viking hat you've got. Something in those horns.
ohman, did my knee in on the marlow hills. i have to forego the wimborne 10 miler in hopes of having this ITB thingie under control by the 7th of december. it had better be worth it! JPVD. .
oh yes. i couldn't even do an hour on sunday without it flaring up. i've got myself on a recovery program now...which basically means i'll turn into a fat bloater if i dont watch it. stretching and strength training, dust off the bike...y'know. JPVD. .
it would certainly be running in dark and manky weather if you were running in Somerset today - looks decidedly "autumnal" outside! Organising a hash run on Sunday at which the Cracker team will be recruiting hard to try and fill our minibus for the 7th!!
I hope this event is not full yet. I have managed to get my son in Bristol interested. He used to be a sprinter when he was a teenager but his sport is really football and so this will be his first 10K.
The race already sounds a bit surreal but running in the same race as my son will make it seem even more bizarre to me.
My race plan is now to run with a turkey on my head while pacing Mrs 70mins to a new pb. Fortunately, I won't look too out of place & few people in W-S-M will recognise me...
Nope. This is only my second ever race (I started running in April) so it's all still a bit new to me. And from what some of the guys in the forum have said there are no terrifying hills to crawl up either, so I am looking forward to it.
I ran it last year and yes it was a great race. It starts on the beach, eventually goes onto road thru town and then finishes on the beach. Last year it was blowing a gale off the sea and was hard to run against it but the whole atmosphere was great...tinsel everywhere you looked + fairies, elves and santas galore. No hills to speak of and delicious mince pies at the finish. When you get your number let me know what it is...mine's 1049
Mince pies? Oh. My. God. I'd run a ruddy marathon for a mince pie! There will be no greater lure on the day that the prospect of sinking my teeth into a tasty bit of pastry. I predict a PB!
Right then, 1049 - what time are you hoping for? I am aiming to get mine below 69 mins.
I did it in about 52 last year...my 10K PB is now 48.23. I don't know what I'll do tho, depends on the weather...I'd be very happy to get close to my PB
Yush - if the wind is strong and against us it'll be hard work. Luckily I am still at the stage where I am chuffed with the fact that I can even think about running a race, so a tidy time is a bonus. Oh, and any excuse to bedeck myself in tinsel...
Hello again all! I got my number yesterday too, 616, look out for me at the back somewhere!!! This is my first race ever (well since high school about 9 years ago) and I'm aiming for about 60mins, but more likely to be 70mins, oh well, at least that'll give a lot of room for getting new pb's in the future.
I have still not had my ruddy number! I am getting v excited now that you lot are getting your packs too. Perhaps tonight, when I get home the postie will have been...

Got my number today...now to decide where I'm going to stick my tinsel this year
God. It's only a couple of weeks away, isn't it? I entered so long ago that I keep thinking the race will never come.
Have you run it before? Is it a good race?
