  • Ahhh! What a lovely policeman.

    Yes, I agree. image

  • Apparently he sold the boots 10 minutes later and bought some crack (smiley wink face)
  • I'd be livid if I was begging barefoot and someone bought me boots.

It would spoil the whole effect.

  • Sussex Runner is probably right I would say.

  • You could buy me a doggie though.

Passers-by give to beggars with dogs.

  • I don't, as I'm a miserable bastard.

  • Well he's probably got his tongue in his chubby cheek again, whereas Ghengis McLaughlin probably thinks the bloke's one of those millionaire beggars that are so common over here, or perhaps he was offered the choice between a cosy middle class American existence and a barefoot life on the streets and chose the easy option.
  • I imagine if he doesn't have any boots and he's begging, Mr Puffy, the absence of boots is part of the performance.

Somewhere, he had boots already. Now he has two pairs.

  • Reminds me of my friend in Cambridge.  She came out of M & S and gave a homeless beggar the sandwich she had just bought for her lunch.  I think she nearly slapped the guy when he unwapped it, opened it up, then gave it back to her saying he didn't eat ham!

  • Nice people do nice things all year round, call me cynical but they don't do "nice" things whilst a colleague takes appropriate publicity shots

That is very cynical. I'm very dissapointed in your lack of faith in humanity EGKO. image

  • Story says it was a passing tourist that took the picture.

  • The "passing tourist" was Jennifer Foster a Law enforcement officer, what a lucky man to have had two of New York's finest looking out for him that night.

I have plenty of faith in humanity, but I am very cycnical when it comes to the use of unfortunate people as photo opportunities.

  • Ah, okey doke!

One of them was New York's finest. The lady that took the photo was Jennifer Foster, who works for the Arizona Sheriff's Office.

  • What an incredible story! I have just messaged the NYPD website on Facebook telling them I love them! Always have & always will, they are great & this police officer is one of them! I take my hat off to him!

  • You can keep your hat on!!!
