the lovely richmond park hill killed me on saturday, but I'd still like to know how I did... any results online or do I have to mosey on down to my club?
I know that at richmond I saw Lindihopper and Jon - any others racing?
The men's league results should come on the Stragglers website, - but nothing yet. I don't know who hosted the woman's fixture since they are different leagues.
Here are the unofficial men's Team results as I remember them, but Herne Hill thought that they'd had a scorer missed, so whilst the positions won't change the margin of Thames' victory may.
Once again it seems like the two promoted teams are heading straight back down again, but that's the way Surrey League scoring works, there's no incentive to get anything other than your ten best runners out, and as Dulwich, Guildford and West 4 found out, if you don't have the class of athlete there's no way round it.
I ran at nonsuch instead, 10 miles is a bit far for me after the xc the day before, so I jogged round 6 instead. I turned up at the pub about 1 or 2pm-had you gone by then, jose?
i saw tiger for about a second before you vanished-heard that the 80minute barrier got broken though-thats fantastic, well done tigs, you must be well chuffed
boxhill suffered from the worst set of clashes of events, for example one of their best runners got hit by a car the week before, another one has just gone to australia, and hurt his ankle the saturday before-how they still didn't come last is a mystery to me!
annajo - surrey league scoring will always favour a club with one decent runner compared to 100 joggers. This is because there is a maximum of 90 scoring runners in the race - everyone else apart from the first ten from each club is disregarded from the scoring. Then if a team is incomplete it is made up with the remaining scoring runners that never started (e.g. 88,89,90 if one team has seven runners).
So because boxhill had a few runners in the forties they still beat stragglers, who despite getting the numbers out, had no low scoring places at all. This is quite UNlike other leagues, where runners who don't make a scoring team can still push other scorers down the order, and a team with the winner, and then 9 other runners behind the 10 from each other club will still score the same as if they had only had the winner.
I hope this makes sense, this may help you, or it may confuse you more!
how did you do at the weekend, mike? are you that really good herne hill vet runner?
my race was going quite well till I realised the finish wasn't by the carpark , as I had thought for the whole of the two laps, but up the top of the hill-my whole concentration went and from that point onwards I got overtaken by everyone
MikeB with regards to the womens league that is not the case, every runner counts, which makes it a lot fairer and also therefore encourages more people to take part. The mens for some reason hasn't changed to this system yet and therefore still favours the few.
Annajo - Ranelagh are in Div 1 too, the womens results on the website are only provisional and have been worked out by our team that were there...
BTW dead chuffed with sub 80 - I'm sticking with my watch time for Sunday as Stragglers website seems to have added many seconds & tipped me over the 80 grrrr. Had to leave pronto, I can only cope with long drinking sessions at the London social, it's me age!

I've always got the results for this via my club, I've never seen them published anywhere.

In the womens league both divisions run in the same race, but for the men's league they are held at three separate venues (1/2/3&4)

Don't do it for the glory!

the closest i have been to a xc race are the mabac events (5 miles run at parks and commons) not very muddy but still exciting)
