Bugger, bum and bollocks the taxman has decided that unbeknowist to me he has been merrilybbuggering up my PAYE taxcode for the last few years and wants it all back this year effectivly knocking out my race/tri fund and some for the year so goodbye Roth 2014
Nooooooooooooooooooo arggg that sucks Ridgeback. Can they not come to some agreement where they just up your tax rate over a period of time to claim it back? Esp. if they ballsed it up in the first place!!!
Its very annoying have been PAYE now for 37 years without a glitch grrrrr! Trying to get through to the tax office to actually talk to someone is a pain, I will just have to suck it up worse things happen at sea and nobodies died but christ my tax stuff is pretty simple what i earn and a pension simples apparently a nice performance pay rise and some bouses pushed me into a different tax bracket which wasnt spotted Ho hum
That is rubbish though. I've always checked with the tax office every few years to get them to check if i'd paid enough/too much, mainly because i was doing a lot of temping, so thought they owed me, which they did. Also i just wanted to make sure i didn't end up owing them loads, but i shouldn't need to do that. You'd think they'd be a bit more reasonable though, in terms of repayment. Pigs!
TBH I haven't bothered to ask about repayments as I have tried 4 times to get through just to make sure they are right and after 10 minutes of hoop jumping to get to speak to someone they tell me they are busy and try later .....goodbye! I will just suck it up and get it paid off ASAP but with 2 kids at Uni, triathlon trip s are the first to go perhaps go for whatever UK IM the pirates are going to hit in 2014
bad news RBM.have you double checked the figures to make sure..........don't just take their word for it.
I have ran nearly 5 miles in horrible rain..noticed that the rain we have had today must be a lot as the rivers which were very shallow are running a torrent now......might have to rethink tomorrows swim in the taff
Due to the cancellation of the Cheshire Cat and its new date clashing with Outlaw. Kilo2go have kindly put me on the 64mile Tour of the Peak. I recieved the good news yesterday, unfortunately the event is on Sunday.
I can't make it at such short notice so wondered if anyone fancied my place, free to a good home. First gone first served and I will post timing chip etc to you
Th eriver was a lot colder and faster than last week.....but swimmable.......didn't go too far as it was hard to judge the cold...........swam 19 mins upstream and then 7 mins back down the same distance........brilliant negative split swimming
eventually got through to the tax people and spoke to a very helpful chap who reassessed it and presto they had cocked up a bit so a slightly lesser hole in my finances so i am going to leave it till things settle and then plan so probably no Roth as entries will be sold out but if i save hard something nice may still be on the cards. The lovely Mrs RBM just offered to fund Roth out of her little savings pot but thats a no no as she uses that for the kids, but it was a lovely gesture from a lovely lady
Ah you've got a keeper there Ridgeback! Glad the situation isn't as bad as first thought. Still a pain in the arse though. Just shows you how crap they are - not charging enough, then demanding too much, and not even recognising their mistakes for the most part. Pfttttt
Daft question time, early breakfast at outlaw what porridge do you use? Are they the pots that you just add water to which are obviously faster than putting a pan on, or can anyone recommend something different.

5.5 mile run with Horse tonight, nice and easy 9.42 min/mile pace. Feeling good,
Be careful in the river Seren, might be an idea to swim elsewhere!
Nice running Razor
Morning folks, I come baring gifts.

Are we there yet?
Starting to feel like I'm peaking, maybe a tad early
80 mile ride on Sunday finished feeling fresh, 13 mile run last night found it too easy for my liking.
Too easy? Pfttt. You need to set yourself a proper challenge then SA, something like Lanza. Oh, hang on....
Go for the Tour of the Peaks in Stanner's place
Did think about it Lea, but quite fancy going down to laugh / support / abuse the people doing the Outlaw half
Ahhh, same weekend. Didn't realise the half was on Sunday!!! Awesome
Th eriver was a lot colder and faster than last week.....but swimmable.......didn't go too far as it was hard to judge the cold...........swam 19 mins upstream and then 7 mins back down the same distance........brilliant negative split swimming
Hehehe, i like the sound of that kind of swim!

A nice gesture that Max pity the taxman isn't as generous.
My hubby has paid twice for IMW out of his little savings pot...If i don't do it this year i fear he won't stetch to a third entry
I'm glad things aren't quite so bad Max - lovely offer from Mrs RBM.
You won't need a third try Seren!
