EP I would go on time for your long OW swim, work up to around 80% of what you reckon it's gonna take you on race day if you can knock one or two of those out a week you will be well set up
For your 100 miler do not get to hung up over the distance take it easy for the first 30 miles then build into your race pace just like you should on the Big day but keep it s gaffe under race pace this is a training ride concentrate on practising your nutrition
My big tip for long rides is to set off a dawn then especially on a Sunday you get at least 3 to 4 hours of clear quiet roads much nicer
Good luck to all racing pirates arrrrrrrrrrttthhhhhhhhh
EP don't think of it in a large lump think 5 x 20 miles and just constantly tick each segment off its how I break down an IM Race and I compartmentalize each bit and deal with whatever that section throws up at me then move on works for me
If you find yourself getting negative eat and drink something for me it's usually a sign I am running on empty
Like RBM says break it down into chunks, on long rides I break it down into 15 mile chunks, after each chunk I know its time for food or gel or whatever I've gone with for that day.
On training rides I will eat / take a gel every 15 miles, race day comes down to 10 miles, all the time drinking as I go.
I always like to have completed the distance at least once OW, but most sessions for me are about 3K
102 mile cycle done this morning for a good confidence boost. by the end I had plenty of energy left but seemed to be lacking the strength in my legs to keep up the average pace especailly up the hills, still fast enough not to have to worry about cut offs unless something goes wrong. went straight out for an hours run after which felt surprisingly good.
Good luck for your 100 tomorrow Pixie and good luck to all the half outlawers.
I did a 2.4 mile pool swim (no great shakes, I do them all the time!) and a 20 mile shuffle ...and that was the longest 'run' I've done for about 6 years.
Thats my peak run done now. Definitely not risking another!
Im abandoning my planned 2.4 mile OW race in coniston tomorrow - apparently the water is just 11 degrees, and I don'tfancy spending 5 hours in the car to risk not completing a swim. I'll cycleinstead. I only managed 750m in the lake this week before I was shivering in my wetsuit and the water was allegedly 13.5
Great effort EP do not worry about being tired you should be you have a lot of training in those legs you will be suprised how different it is race day with a freshon tapered body
EP - recovery from the long bikes is usually much faster than for long runs so I would see what sort of a session you manage tomorrow - what are you planning?
If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

Well done on getting to this point folks. Have a great day's racing tomorrow (and try not to use up all the good weather)
I'm hoping that this is the sign of thing sto come stanners, although a very hot race day is not allowed. Warm and dry yes, but not hot hot hot.
Good luck to all those doing the half this weekend ... HPP looked lovely yesterday all set up !
got a 60 mile ride this morning, then a long run up the forest with Mrs SA this afternoon, so I should be good to come and support tomorrow
GO PIRATES

Chiltern 100 tomorrow..... ideal prep for a flat ironman
Enjoy that one OC ... sorry I cant be there this year !!
ETA, watch those roads, they are full of holes
I was meant to be doing the chiltern 100 too but bottled it and did my own today.
depending on how I feel tomorow I might see if I can switch my entry to the 58 mile route.
Its easy enough to switch routes on the day, just let them know in registration

K9, I was in Windermere for an hour last night and can confirm that it was baltic. Feet were numb for a good half hour afterwards.
Fairly quick 3 hour run over the moors with Wilson the Mighty Irondog absolutely glorious morning the Mojo returns
