its only £200 difference so should i just go for the more expensive bike? I will be looking for around this price group so any other suggestions will be accepted.

Im new to triathlons, just starting training and only have a hybrid at the moment

thanks

  • Get the more expensive one.  It looks nicer.

  • I would go for the more expensive one - just for the nicer wheels.

  • Yes there's enough difference to justify the extra money - whether you'd actually notice the difference or not...maybe.

  • The more expensive one has better quality shifters and tires. I'd pay the £200 extra. Plus, i agree with Alan, the white one is nicer than the black. Probably justifies the extra cost alone image

  • Are you on a tight budget...? You might want the ??200 to get shoes, helmet, glasses, track pump, bike pump, gloves, pedals, bottle cages, tools, saddle bag, lights etc. in fact ??200 won't cover that list! In which case the cheaper bike is going to be perfect. And shimano 105 kit is pretty solid.
  • Thanks guys for your help

You have confirmed what i was going to do, more expensive one it is. I already have gloves and pumps and things as brought a bike on cycle to work scheme last year. There will be other stuff i need to buy but the bike is the main thing at the moment.

Just need to sign up to a tri now and set my self some goals

    regards

  • What bike do you have already ?
  • You can't call yourself a 'proper' cyclist if you don't get the more expensive one.

  • I only have a hybrid at the moment which i use to commute to work a couple of times a week.

Just need to buy a road bike to start training and competing with.

Lou, i like the way you think lol

  • A better bike doesn't make you a better cyclist. But it does make you think you are a better cyclist. And look like one. And that's what counts.

    Yea for the posh one.

  • Buy cheap, buy twice.  AND, the second one has the `bling` factor.

  • The fastest pirate bike leg in ironman Switzerland was done on a ??400 bike though.

Don't kid yourself that more expensive equals fastest.
  • With ya Cougie!!
