SS theres another thread re organising some sort of training camp Perhaps you two could combine I think we should have a yoga session too, bet were all REALLY bad at stretching
As this clashes with the Crowborough 10k and not many people are able to make the weekend - Im going to cancel this one and try and do it on another weekend - maybe another place?
Think the best thing here is for Swiss to research perhaps three suitable events, say Feb, May and June/July time, and let us know what they are, and we can then see which is the most popular and what support there may be for it.
Personally prefer a summer event as Feb is bang in the middle of marathon training season, but let's guage the potential support first.
to me Feb would be fine, but I can see that it might mess up the schedules of those running FLM. Also, what's the weather like in Feb in Switzerland, SB? Pretty cold I would have thought.
Snoop a training weekend late feb for the FLM was what I had in mind, I will not have an events diary for a while for CH-land but we will see what can be done
Over to Shambler. Yoga AND a running weekend? fanbloodytastic! Had a break of 6 weeks from Yoga and then went hell for leather on Saturday morning. Felt great all day. Got up Sunday and had aged 50 years! Still quite bendy through all the aches and pains though! Like the idea of Crowborough - might even sweet talk "he-who-must-be-beaten-into-submission" into running as well! Must toodle off and see all the dets. Must say, I dooooooo like this website. Keep em coming.
Hey, Zebedee - I picked up the yoga idea from Benz....... it does sound good though, doesn't it?
My organizational skills aren't too brill. Also at the mo there are wierd things happening at work and my Mum's just about to start chemo - so I'm slightly pre-occupied right now!
However, if someone else wanted to put on the organisers hat........
I LOVE the idea. Would find it difficult to take a weekend break so far away from the Midlands during university term time as I teach all day on Fridays this year and can't take a day off then - but would be up for weekends of 13th December - 10th January, Eastertime, or after 2nd May. Or anything within 100 miles of Brum.
Count me out of the yoga please. I'd rather do extra intervals. In fact, I'd rather break stones with a chain around my ankles.
Hey Velo, yoga is not all mantras and loincloths! It is actually jolly good! but if you do prefer stone breaking with chains (hmmm, kinky!), well, good luck!!!!!!!!!! (oooo, working on a chain gang!)
Shambler, hope your mum does ok tomorrow The other thread is about a training camp, Im sure SS should combine forces with them Cant remember where it is at the mo
Yoga is uncomfortably close to "religions" which I am culturally unequipped to make sense of, and to the vile alternative "health" industry (in claiming health benefits which it cannot deliver). And Geri Halliwell endorses it and the gym-bunny mummies do it.
Try it It can be all of those things that you mention, but is also a bloody good workout And it includes ALL fitness levels It does depend on the individual class though
Life's too short to waste doing exercise classes that I don't fancy doing (it's difficult enough trying to make time for the ones I DO want to do) and have deeply held ethical doubts about. So I shall not take your medicine on this occasion, doc.
