SB - there's no reason why you would not achieve that time. I used the 2:30 schedule from here for Windsor and managed to haul myself round in 2:08 - so ANYthing's possible!!
EP, SB, Shambler Think of all those down hill stretches, and the crowds waiting for you to finish in the stadium, and you'll fly round the course! Failing that, think of Sunday Roast, Apple Crumble and ice cream........ it helps me get round :-)
I think it's a bit weird that they've put up that amateurish, broken website though. Doesn't give a very positive impression. Why didn't they just get the real site ready? It would only be a few hours work.
I'm aiming for sub 2.10 - given that my previous best last Feb was 2:19 I hope that's not too unrealistic. Hope all that Abingdon marathon training has paid off!
Whinging? Absolutely not, Jon -- I want Reading to be a great success, and I've been recommending it to people. Despite the problems with the start at the last couple of years, I still think Reading is one of the best races I've taken part in. The atmosphere is great, the crowd support better than most, and the course next year looks even better. The finish in the Madejski is a great idea.
It's because I want it to work that I thought it strange that (just like last year) they had some flakey, MS Publisher-style website up to launch the race, before switching to their impressive proper site. I just wonder sometimes what goes through the minds of marketing departments.
I haven't yet decided whether to do the race as I'm committed to Bath the following Sunday. But if I don't run it I'm going to volunteer to marshal, which I hope proves my faith in this event!
Sutts - yes, come on down. There have been hiccups previously but they've radically changed the route to solve the problem.
Indeed a man on a mission. The WAVA tables predict me 1:26:07 based on my 10 mile time from t'other week. After another five months of marathon training, I'd certainly hope to be getting close to 1:25. But we shall see...

They did the same last year.
Curious.
EP - I think you might just surprise yourself.
Are we having a parteeee afterwards?
Not sure what my target will me yet. Sub 85 with any luck!
Is it worth the trip ?
I've heard a lot of horror stories about delayed starts and poor organization. Are they true or just another urban myth ???
My Dog! You're a man on a mission!
