NN that's great running well done.

OH hope the legs are better soon.

Jason that's another great double day in the bank.

MG1 wish I had known you where over, I live in Carrickfergus and my Sunday long run is along the route next to the motorway in to Belfast. If you saw the hill above Carrickfergus that's what I run up and down most weeks.
  • NP, lovely route along the coast, normally I come over for a couple of days but had to do the trip in a day, those hills look a major challenge!! , never mind being pretty exposed on the top but must be stunning on nice days certainly better than Birminghams scenery!

I can now picture where you have been training .

You will hopefully see the fruits of my visit over the summer along your running routes and in and around town.

MG1 you have me intrigued now......
  • Fiona CFiona C ✭✭✭

NP sounds sensible to have a cut back. The training camp is next to the sea so no altitude but just as well - when I was at Breckenridge skiing I could barely do 10k/hr on the treadmill!! image

NN (& NP) nice 15 milers yesterday.

OH I hope there is no lasting damage with the tear.

jason I hope you enjoy the recovery day, another impressive day's training yesterday.

Sounds like a major property development planned for your scenic runs NP! image

5 miles fartlek this morning, treadmill run as snowing and a bit icy early. Work dinner tonight (& tomorrow night image)

Tek, you're right to be pleased that's a good pace to be hitting now with a few more weeks left of training,

SM6, well done with the swim

Mace, great running from you, got to be happy with pace and HR

MG, hope you've enjoyed the trip and your rest day

NP, nice run and a cut back week is well deserved

NN, another great 15 in the bank,

OH, hope you're recoverying well and the bruise turns out to be nothing to worry about

Fiona, nice run today, hope to see you on Sunday at the HM,

11 mile MLR for me last night kept the pace easy and finished with 3 miles at around MP, JS tonight then a little cross training on Friday and rest up before the HM on Sunday image

NN well dojne on the 15 MLR - that's a big chunk of time to come off

MG hope you get out today

Fiona well done on the 6m yesterday, and the fartlek this morning.

NP well done on the steady 15m

HM how are the press-ups going?

OH ouch hope that clears up soon - good luck tonight

JAson good recovery and impressive 15m

Stewart well done on the 11 miler - good finishimage

    ---

The plan was 14m, but the club run took us near my house, and the CBA fairy whisked me away at 12 miles.  Oh well, looks like a longer run on Sunday, then.image

  • macemace ✭✭✭

Nice route pb and HR, Nurse image

15 miles nice and steady today after yesterday's tempo running, Having done 6x 22 mile long runs in a row I'm going to do a bit of a cut back week next week with the run up. To my half marathon on the 23rd.

Just the 21.5 this week then, NP  image Seriously, 6 x 22 on the spin is mind boggling, fair play.

    Fiona - nice fart'ing image

Tek - I've only ever ran past my house the once and gave up after another couple hundred yards . I was ill though to be fair, but i'd have been massively tempted anyway.

6M recovery with strides turned into a just a 4.2M recovery without any strides this morning as i felt like my legs had been replaced by those of an Elephant.

  • TeknikTeknik ✭✭✭

mace LoL .  Hope the legs are better tomorrow, and well done on the Surrealismimage

  • HM4HM4 ✭✭✭

    Tek,

I'm starting to feel it however I did do 2 days in a row so next session is tomorrow morning.  I will post an update tomorrow morning.

    ----------------

    Well done on everyone's training.

  • Tek 12 is good any day

Mace nice 4 with those strides

Fiona well done on the treadmill fartlek

OH 10 out of 10 , yes it's horticultural , nice wild flower areas should be appearing for NP to enjoy while on his runs!!! image

Great session with trainer in the gym tonight for an hour plenty of leg work and core, time is going so fast now only two more full weeks of training before taper. Rest tomorrow before LR on sat.
  • 5 mile recovery with group tonight.
Thigh fine (though colourful) Foot still niggling a bit so cut run short.

HM4 we were trying one handed pressups after the work party a few weeks back - I failed miserably!

  • StewartCStewartC ✭✭✭

Tek, That almost happened to me last night, around mile 8 but I decided to turn right and complete the run, to be fair you've been training hard and you're entitled to a CBA moment

Mace, hope the legs are feeling more human now

HM, well done with the press ups

MG, great training and I also can't wait for the taper to start,

OH, Hope the foot niggle is nothing serious time for a little TLC after your race on Sunday,

JS sesion this evening another 5 miles in the bank, I really enjoyed tonight's run the group was very small which makes it easier to manage

    5.56m 56:02m @10:05mm

  • Fiona CFiona C ✭✭✭

Nice recovery run mace and OH good that the leg is fine, hope the foot gets better.

Teknik 12m still a good midweek run. Work got in the way of mine this week but I'll make up for it next week! image

Good to see the challenge still going well HM4.

MG1 that sounds nice - come on up to Inverness!! image

Stewart sounds like a good run last night. 4 course meal for me last night instead of a run image but got out this morning for 5 easy miles.

  • HM4HM4 ✭✭✭

    OH,

I'd have no hope of that also.  I'm still doing the press ups on my knees & today's session consisted of 57 press ups in total (with the appropriate gaps between sets).

  • Still wondering about trying new running shoes.
Foot was painful last night (sufficient to curtail run) but managing star jumps to keep warm during 08:45 fire drill this morning.
Looked at Nike Pegasus (suited to wide feet) but Elspeth said she had had a pair that wore out in no time at all.

  • macemace ✭✭✭

Nice running, pressuping, star jumping and gyming folks  image

Fiona - hope you enjoyed the well earned meal

    2w/u 6LT 2c/d this morning ( ahem , i said LT, NP image )

LT bit was half mile out and half mile back with the outs flipping windy and hard work. Splits of 7:01, 6:59, 6:57, 7:01, 7:00, 6:58 which must be a nadge under 7:00 ave.

A slight image moment when i left the house though ( i was in a rush ) .... got 50 yards down the road and thought blimey it's chilly then noticed i was just in my boxers so returned home sharpish to get some shorts on image

  • 12 miles this morning in 1.48, up and out by 7am !! that is really early for me but having seen heavy rain forecast for later I decided to get out while it was nice and dry.

Fiona I suggest you save some energy for next week , although I know you are used to doubles it will be a lot warmer which I found draining, and of course there will be plenty of socialising to to image

OH  nice to see the legs are recovered enough already to run, whats next in your race diary ?

Tek 12 miles is still a long run we loose perspective when marathon training dont we, and take e off the race schedule for this  coming sunday....seems like I shall be baby sitting ..lol

and will have to get a long run in when I can rather than do the Gloucester 20

Mace nice LT session...and lol..are you serious about the shorts ?? image

    Stuart another good run..

MG1 taper madness ...cant wait !!

HM4 thats about 55 more pressups than I can do image

  • macemace ✭✭✭

    Deadly serious Nurse

I wish i could say it's the first time i've done it as well ....

Nice early 12 / bad weather dodging image

  • Lucky you werent arrested !

  • TeknikTeknik ✭✭✭

HM nice press-up total. Good work image

MG good gym work and good luck for the LR tomorrow

OH nice recovery run  Hope that foot clears up soon.  I find I can only do one-handed press-ups if the Rocky theme's playing in the background...

Stewart well dne on the JS session last night

    Fiona nice easy 5

mace good LT. Lol re wardrobe malfunction

NN well done on the early 12m . Shame about the Gloucester 20...

    ---

Osteo this morning - been getting a pain in my foot and she thinks it's PF developing, so more hours rolling a tennis ball underfoot required.  4m recovery at lunchtime.

  • TeknikTeknik ✭✭✭

    Another big race week-end...

16/03/13 Eco Trail de Paris           Emmy
    17/03/13 Warwick Castle Half       AGF
    17/03/13 Alloa Half                      Stuart
    17/03/13 Reading Half                 Johnas
17/03/13 Inverness Half               StewartC, Spark, Fiona C

  • Mace - Cheers, my computer screen is now covered in coffee after reading your postimage I'm usually incredibly paranoid and seem to check a good few times that I actually have shorts on. Nice run, with or without shorts...

NN - Nice early run. Think the forecast is the reverse up here, I was gonna go out for 10 at 8am but it was breezy and wet so went to bed instead.

OH - Hope the foot is better

HM - Well done on the push ups

Fiona - You'll no doubt make up for last nights missed run next week.

    Stewart - Nice run

    -------------

Not ran since Tuesday, seem to have a dull pain in my hip. Almost like a dead leg. Don't think it'll actually hamper my running, I'll find out when I go out in an hour or so.

  • Mace - reminds me of the story of the mother of an American friend.
Sunbathing in the underwear in back yard when she heard an ice cream van and was off down the main street before she realised. image
Irony is that she would have been less worried had it been a bikini which, no doubt, would have covered more.

Rather more worringly I've had the same cold feeling when setting off kayaking with drysuit not zipped up image

NN Impressive to get 12 miles in before breakfast time (for us mortals)
next in race diary for me is Cape Wrath running week on 12-19 May (currently signed up for HM, Hill Race and Full Marathon(Mon Tue and Saturday)image)

  • Tek - Take care with the foot.

OH - That's a nice selection of races of the course of 6 days. I think I'll stick by my original assessment that you're a bit mental!image

    ------------

Just in from 11.20 mile @ 9.01, felt easy but HR was pretty high. Likely down to the fact I only had 3 hours sleep today

Hi peeps work getting in the way now finished till Monday image

OH go easy coming back, great work on guessing what MG1 was up to image

SC well done on yesterday's run.

Fiona I'm sure you will make up for your missed MLR next week, I think your flying out just as we are all going to get snow again.

Mace LOL did anyone see you out running in your underwear? Nice running with the LT run, good job I have never done that going commandoimage
  • No PainNo Pain ✭✭✭
    NN nice MLR image

Teknik nice running yesterday and recovery run today. Looking forward to the race reports.

SM6 well done on today's run sounds like your hip flexor a are getting a bit tight I would suggest a few stretches.

7 miles easy yesterday morning and 7 miles with 5 at tempo last night, this morning 1 mile swim followed this afternoon with a 4 mile recovery run. Up my hill tomorrow.
  • HM4HM4 ✭✭✭

    Mace,

I'm really glad I'm not the only one who has wardrobe moments which affect runs image!

    -----------

Well done on everyone's training & thanks for your comments.

  • NP enjoy those hills, will be on my canal paths and roadsimage
  • Good luck to those racing this weekend. I will be jogging my half as a medium run as I want to be sensible.

    Jogged 20 this morning.

    Enjoy your weekend folks.
