Inner ankle problem caused by running action

I recently went to get new running shoes and discovered that I put my right foot down oddly which is causing pain in the tendon in my ankle. I know I need to chagr my running action. Can anyone give me any advice on avoid pain on the ankles and shins and changing running action? I have support Asics now which are helping but I think I need to do more. StArting marathon training and I don't want this to stop me
