Karen, yeah I'm local. Face value donation to stroke association would be great. Let me know if want and we can arrange details. Can change name for free on day
I cannot run at Wilmslow for first time in 5 years, so I have a place (male) available, collectable from Wilmslow for face value. Use wheelybin44 at btinternet dot com or just respond here. Thanks and good luck to all runners. Hope its a great day.
I'm looking for a place if any are still going. Andy, no idea how to send you a message about your place but if it's still available let me know by email at chriss at jmw dot co dot uk
Anyone need a number for Sundays Wilmslow Marathon? I cant run so I now have one available for face value (£30) to collect from Wilmslow address. You can apparently change the name to your own on the day. Text me on 07742888253..
I'm told decision being made sat afternoon as to whether race is on
Update on the website to say that snow or ice making the route dangerous will lead to cancellation but race will otherwise go ahead.
The forecast for Wilmslow doesn't look too bad, possible scatterings of snow Friday, dipping below freezing overnight on Saturday but not by much and then creeping back above freezing on Sunday morning. It's going to be cold regardless especially in the winds but hopefully the ground should be suitable for running
Getting there early is a must though as the fields usually used for parking are unavailable and therefore greater pressure on the surrounding streets for parking
Yep I was toying with Metrolink into Manchester from Alty and then train from Manchester to Wilmslow, seem to be every 10 minutes or so or train from Alty to Stockport and then on to Wilmslow
I assume the rugby club will still be providing left luggage facilities etc despite the absence of the actual parking.
Or do I just get there at stupid o'clock and park up with my Sunday Times on one of the side streets (that hasn't got parking bays and double-yellow lines as alot appear to) and read the paper for an hour or so before wandering down to the start
It's as much the convenience of getting in the car afterwards having spare clothes, drinks etc on hand and then being able to drive home in relative comfort without offending your fellow passengers through smell or general post-race malaise
Any one got a place for this race that they want to pass on, for an appropriate fee of course? I did have a place, gave it up, but now my plans have changed and I'm back in the running!!

It's going to be chaos. Tempted to get train there.
Hardly any snow so far here in Wilmslow and certainly nothing sticking - yet.
As for the parking situation - yep, get there early or get public transport. Or both.
About 10 to 15 minutes walk according to wilmslow half website.
Yes - quite a few trains and takes less than 10 minutes. Are there left luggage facilities at the start?

I'm not sure what is more hassle - getting train or driving in early to find somewhere to park.
Going to be windy on sunday - will be from the east so 2nd half of course could be pretty tough.
Left luggage facilities should be available at the rugby club - in the bar area at the clubhouse if I remember correctly.
Seems like it'll be -7 with windchill. I make that approximately 25 degrees colder than it was last year...
commute on bike was interesting. the wind is crazy

trouble is with the car park situation, I think a lot of people will miss the start, and maybe start delayed as can't clear the street.
Tempted to cycle actually, I am in S Manchester.
Yes, looks like will be on. Doesn't look will be too much snow today in NW. Only other worry is ice as going to drop below freezing tonight.
Thanks
I'm after a place too if anyone knows of anymore going spare,
Thanks, Sally
