I actually might be tempted if I survive Lanza !

  • Bloody hell kk - you're starting to rant now - like you did with the Guardian reporter who asked a pretty simple question. Give the keyboard a rest for a bit ?

It sounds like you're trying to make the pirates out to be a bunch or rich kids ?

The simple fact is that if you fancy a bit of sun - a continental race is the place to go. Plus the organisation of races abroad is usually excellent.

A muddy field in Bolton isn't exactly floating my boat to be honest.
  • No Kk.........children are all indiviuals.......i have worked with under 12's all my adult life and i would never restarin a child unless they were a danger to themselves or someone else.....which is very very rare in children and  as far as i am aware not any behaviour your children have ever shown......as i said....this has nothing to do with Ironman or understanding my illiterate writings but i would advise you in future that if anyone comes into your house and restrains your children then you should never let them near your children again.......

anyway....maybe this has satisfied your attention seeking fix for this month......

  • If its Wales (and i class it as abroad) how about http://www.thebrutal.co.uk/full_brutal.html

Nice and hard and (relatively) cheap
  • I'd really love to do IM Austria - for me it'd be getting time off work term time - if I could get the Monday off is anyone fit to fly the day after an IM?

(And by anyone, I don't mean the elite under 10 hours types, I mean, to quote Meldy - the walk in the park types)?

Wales? Isn't that one of the slowest and therefore toughest? How do people that don't live in hilly areas train for it??

move or put lots of books under the front wheel of the turboimage

  • I definitely want to do the brutal - but it's prob not one for the official race ?

    Not very inclusive !image
  • In the interests of being "all inclusive" (jikes!) what about Forrest Man?

Everyone I know that has done it has loved it!
  • Brit, to answer your question, yes people are fit to fly on the Monday but its whether you want to fly and miss the party that is the question
Despite what you see on these threads on occaisions these events are a huge success year after year and as Crashie mentioned earlier continues to evolve, the aftershow party and the awards ceremonys are almost legendary !

Austria is one of the 'quicker' courses I would say, it is a beautiful course and accessible to a degree although not the easiest place to get to .. Wales yes its hard, you wll find it easier if you can train on hills but others have got away with it

  • Forestman is another good one!

Is Graniteman a full or just a half?

  • I think this year there are about 17 ones on.....I doubt they will all last for next year...........there is even one east anglia way .......or the one that goes from edingburgh and ends up Ben nevis

or the one that goes through the night.we could go straight into drinking all day

  • Oh and that Narfeck one .. flipin hundreds of the buggers !!!

  • I could always take a sickie ... Probably wouldn't be far from the truth anyway image
  • Lol no!

Also I suspect some of the European ones wouldnt have a daily flight out?  Unless of course they are larger cities when the commuter planes are the order of the day

  • If i mess up wales again i might have to go back next year for third time luckyimage

  • Almere is still top of my list Amsterdam is pretty easy to get to but i could be tempted by a UK one if its a goodie
  • I think the summary of this thread is

'We dont know where to go next year but its likely we'll go to Austria in 2015 if we start saving our pennies'

  • Ive heard good reports about Almere too ..

  • Seren that scottish one sounds good image

Brit lots of big ring low gear work and the odd hoiday in Cornwall will sort your hill training image i always take the monday off after IM as mentally i am usualy fried and usually cant wal properly
  • The odd weekend .. I dont know about the odd holiday !

  • the problem with scotland is that its a long long way from cornwall.probably quicker for you to get to austriaimage

  • challenge might move their venue next year after all the hassle henley gave them.........

  • Scotland is a long way from anywhere to be fair ...cept Sweden praps    image
