not sure if I will do w100 Richyla, will see how NDW100 goes first! I have a few ideas about food to bring , im near the start though so hopefully nobody will be in dire straits that early on! I couldn't fault any aid station at ndw50 , they all had something different and yummy-jelly at Caterham was fab as was the baby food type smoothie in a pouch !
Ben hopefully you will b quite lucid at mile 12! Tiago , did I forget to tell you tht when we move to Swyncombe tht aid station is open quite a loooong time I could sing Xmas song the whole time - I'm sure that'll help you pass the time no end
Now I think on it. This isn't even a Winter 100, it's still in Autumn! Although whether I still think that after 12 hours on the Ridgeway, I shall have to see!
To anybody marshalling their first 100 at this event, you will be shocked how cold it can get standing around at night, when you would normally be tucked up in bed.
Thanks for that Ben. I think where I'm going - last year everything blew away and they had to do the aid stations from the back of their cars - can't wait!!
LLB, I too will look like the Michelin man, I will hardly be able to move from base layers, base base layers, double base base etc.
Hi all thought I'd ask on here if anyone would like to volunteer to pace for me thro the last 25 miles of this. My usual pacer is running this race so if any kind ultra runner fancied a 25 mile night run in the streatley area it would be very much appreciated.
I will be watching this event with genuine interest this year.
Last year the course war rerouted, completely avoiding the two spurs on the Thames Path. The weather conditions were exceptionally bad, resulting in the highest DNF rate of any British 100 miler that year.
I think it is still a bit of an unknown quantity to be honest!
Hi shawk no I havent found any one yet. Would be great if you run the last part. You can only have a pacer in the last 25 miles.so thats the last spur to readi g and back.
This would be a lovely and "relatively" straight forward 100 miler if the weather is a nice crisp cool november day.
But last year the weather did make it challenging somewhat. I was organising the Piece of String race and I was a bit gutted that the weather hampered the psychological torture I wanted to inflict.
It gets quite windy on the ridgeway. It being a ridge it is very exposed so layer up and be prepared to be blown around.
Mines been near perfect apart from a minor niggle on my Achilles but a weeks rest seemed to keep it at bay. One last mara to run at the A20 downs marathon and i'm ready.
Training has been going well. Did a 33 mile race on Sunday, a big weekend planned with long back to back runs and then taper time!
Its my first 100 mile attempt (have done 73 and 80 miles) and I have never been so nervous about anything. Particularly worried that I don't have support and that I will get lost! My map reading skills are not great!

think I may opt for a Christmas theme
What have I let myself in for?
It depends upon the weather.
It might be a cool crisp frosty November day, or you might get another biblical deluge.
I thinkTiago may be referring to me Ben .....
Yep
A Christmas themed checkpoint might be quite alarming when you start to halucinate on the night section!
I don't get to run away from it though, I'm stuck with her. And we're only at mile 12.
????

It's in November!

Exactly !! It's practically in December , so there we are
Gonna be my first 100 too, thought it would be good to get best part of a years training and racing in before doing a 100

At least the participants can run to keep warm!
Thanks for that Ben. I think where I'm going - last year everything blew away and they had to do the aid stations from the back of their cars - can't wait!!

I'm still looking forward to it, bizarrely.
I mean Helly Hansen - phone not playing today

Did you find somebody to run with yet Lingster? I think I'm free that weekend and don't live far from there...

Thanks James, your are inspiration personified!
How's everyone's training going?
Ready and raring to go?

Well since no one else has answered...
