how are you supposed to enter this race without paying a suscribtion to runners world. What a con.
Okay - it's all fixed now (thanks, RW).
Im in! this is the highlight of my racing calender and is the most fun!
Online entry for the half is currently off-line for some reason. The race is not full and you will be able to enter online in due course, once RW has sorted the problem. Please be patient!
Online entry for the Bath Hilly Ultra 10k is still online and open.
Online entry for the Bath Hilly Half is now open again.
Online entry is now closed, but places can still be had (strictly by pre-arrangement to rob at trionium dot com) - sorry, no entries on the day.
Nice race route and well marshaled. The Southville (?) guy running up the hill in a jesters outfit and banging a drum certainly helped keep me going. More hills than I usually like as I prefer nice flat road courses, but that wasn't a surprise and I knew what I was letting myself in for. Nice to get a beer at the finish.
Price is very excessive for what it is though and half it's current entry would be much fairer.
Fantastic race - really well organised and marshalled. Great medal and the best tshirt/long sleeve out of all the races I do. And how anyone can complain about price for a charity event is beyond me... Well done all
Trionium appears to be a commercial race orgainser.
That's fine, charity is good.
£27/29 for a half marathon with what must be minimal costs as it's off road and marshaled by volunteers and some army cadets is not good value though. It was a good race, but just lacking in the value for money area.
Thanks for the interesting discussion. The race is entirely staffed and organised by volunteers and all monies raised go to local charities, via the Rotary Club of Bath West, for whom the race is organised.
For an interesting discussion on what goes into organising a race like this, please read the Trionium Guide to Organising a Race.
It is a steep price but the choice to enter is yours. There were a lot of local runners who can run the route any time but chose to race like myself.
In perspective - the technical t-shirt was great and you'd be paying about £15-£20 in a sports shop for a similar one. Add the medals, venue and other misc expenses and you've got a good value event.
I live in Bath and can run the route at any time but nothing can beat running with lots of other fab, motivating people. The organisation was great, the volunteers awesome (encouraging and fantastic to survive the really cold temps!), the hills were brutal, but everyone was really encouraging and the hills were fun in a sadistic way! The t-shirt was really great quality and I liked the medal, beer and flapjack!! I will definitely do it again. Thanks again guys, great job.
