Cheers for the ride out today lads and especially thanks too raf for showing us the new course. Was nice too actually ride with others for a change! I had a blinder of a run afterwards as well! Cheers again fellas
Thanks all for a nice ride out, great to meet you all.
Its made me think of a few thing I need to practice, firstly unclipping in a hurry so no more embarrassing verge diving when riding in a group. The big hills is nasty and more climbing work will be needed but it could have been worse, I need to man up on the descents I'm far to scared of the speed. I'm also going to find a car park and practice the tight turns that are going to be needed to U-turn on those country roads.
Cheers for comimg out to play everyone - was a good ride, hope you found it useful. And was good to put faces to names at last! See you on the next one!
Raf - Thanks again for being such a great tour guide. Next time it would be nice if you could point out a few more of the local sights and told us a little more of the history of the town I didn't feel like i got a know what Henley had to offer the weekend visitor other than a hard slog through the country side.
Yes, cheers all. Enjoyed myself and was great to get some course knowledge at last. Will post up my Garmin data in a bit for those who couldn't make it. In summary though, it isn't too bad! 3rd crack at the climb might hurt a bit though with 100 miles already in the legs...
I apologise Scuba, how remiss of me! next time we'll start with a history of Henley Brewery and then a pub crawl - sounds a lot more fun! At least then you'll have an excuse for falling over
Glad to entertain Jamie. Inexperience always shows in the end
I still haven't got round to changing my cassette and chain after the chain broke a couple of weeks ago. I'm now thinking that maybe swapping the 12-25 I have now for a 12-27 thinking the 3rd time round I may be grateful for the extra 2 teeth and having done more spinning and less grinding the on the first 2 laps. Any thoughts?
Yep the extra teeth will def help if your struggling with the hills, ideally you want to spin that large hill then grind it like I do I was in the little ring at the front and biggest at the back but I'm running a 11-23 with a non compact front on a TT bike so I'm not spoilt for choice there (same cassette on my race wheels too)
I was running a 26 today (I have the same on my TT) and thought it was OK but I think I might stick a 27/28 on the back so I can take it a touch easier and save some energy for the third go up it.
On my TT i'm now running a 50/34 on the front and a 12 -27 on the back. I spin out aorund 37mph, but I don't really see that as an issue....but much easier to get up Howe Hill with the 27 on the back!
Delayed thanks to everyone and especially Raf for Sunday. It was great to meet you all, and fantastic to ride the course. Would love to do a couple of laps sometime if anyone is up for it. Cheers, Dan
Beginning of July for me please - I think Sunday 7th or 14th fit my plans (and more importantly my week in the sun) If you stray away from these dates then you miss out on my awesome company. No one wants that.
Doh!! good point...I'm drowning that weekend then!

Stoopid I pad won't let me space correctly, I can't do the 7th as I have the British champs on that weekend .... I have the London tri too I can't remember the date only doing it because a old school mate is doing it... And I need too beat him
Jamie - i thought the British champs were on the 14th?
OC -we're very civilised and tend to meet around 10ish for coffee first. I imagine Henley is a real pain to get to by train! Where would you be coming from - I may be able to meet you somewhere en route!!
Good point about 14th!! Who's free on 20/21st July - we could try then (and 22nd June if people wish).
IC - it might be easier to get the train to Reading and cycle to Henley - it's only about 6-7 miles.
btw there's an Olympic tri in Marlow on the 22nd which goes up the fairmile to the roundbout nr nettlebed and back (which I might do as a practice river swim) so you may want to avoid that day too

Will bikes be OK @ Starbucks? Don't really want to carry a lock...

Did you not point out the infamous Teddy Bear shoppe ?
Fraggle - the shop was pointed out the evil losers!
ST - I did find the curb carnage funny though we have all been there! On more then one occasion!

Hi guys, I can do 22nd June or 7th July, but am away on 14th - be good to see you all.
Good luck with the races guys - some fantastic race reports.
I can't do any of the dates - but July 14th is Marlow Half IM which uses some of the same roads so there could be a lot of people about then.
what time do you start... (I need to get a train over )
