Cougie, I did a bit of research on this recently and I'm planning on retesting next week at the end of a recovery week and 4 weeks in to the techno magic training stuff.
The opinion seemed to be that improvements are more gradual later on so no need to test so regularly
I'm back on this don't know about doing the suffer tour cos I'm run focused in prep for a marathon. Started off on the low volume base program for the next 4 weeks and gradually increasing my FTP by 2-3 points each session to try to get me back up over 200. At a paltry 165 at the mo
...just to check - you do know that's not how FTP is supposed to work, right??
Yep, I know I'm doing it arse about tit and that I should do a 20 min test first but I'm just running through the base program at the moment and gradually increase my FTP each session. Its just t.i.t.s at the moment to shift some timber. After I run through the first plan, I'm gonna do a 20 min test And go from there.
I'm mid way through a Trainer Road programme. I can't remember which one it is but I did a 90 minute thing called "Junction" earlier today and I think my legs ache more now than they did after Challenge Henley last year.
Well the postie has just delivered a B'Twin speed/cadence sensor, so I've signed up on TrainerRoad. Will get it all set up tomorrow and find out how horrific the 20min test is. For future reference my career can be found here: http://www.trainerroad.com/career/durhambiker
I did rubber glove yesterday - my ftp it suggests is lower than when I first tested but I'm just putting it down to a hard week. I can see I'm stronger than I was originally.
ISLAGIATT this afternoon. I'll not be up to much later !
Joined! Just set the sensor up and had a quick half hearted attempt at the 20 minute test. Got 5 minutes into the 20min effort and realised half hearted just wasn't going to cut the mustard and got off in a pool of sweat. I shall be returning to the garage to do it properly either tomorrow or Monday...
Change of plan, dropping running for a boot as I feel the onset of shin splints.
signed up for the team, ToS and completed Rubberglove and ISLAGIATT. Had to drop the intensity to 85% to get me through ISLAGIATT. Ridiculously hard a day after an FTP.
I started at the correct time but I'm coming off the back of a pretty bad cold. Naturally that influenced my FTP test too though (tested at a paltry 216W!) so in theory I should get stronger as the week goes on.
I've joined the team too - but having done a 90 min session yesterday, and as I'm doing Watford Half Marathon next Sunday - I'm about to have a week off cycling in the garage. Back on it a week tomorrow!
had to tone stage 4 of the tour (hell hath no fury) down to 85% and even then it was a struggle to hit the targets. usually Mondays a rest day for me and I could do with one.
I've noticed the drift in the reading from my Vectors as I get warmed up (under reports as temperature increases from calibration point). A dynamic calibration is easy to do by backpedalling for a few seconds, but having to do that during the work interval really annoys me - not so much of an issue when doing Revolver, but in HHNF the problem only arises about 15 minutes into the first 20:00 piece.
I am on powertap. I think the warming up is an issue with me rather than the technology - its the same in running intervals too - first part is always harder than the last half.
I definitely messed up the calibration for my Rubber Glove though. My HR was higher than my power to kick off - and I've not seen a trace like that in the rest of my workouts.
Wretched done, not pretty, but done none the less. Trying to pluck up courage to get ES over with whilst I'm in the state I am in.
I haven't been able to sustain the power levels prescribed in the workouts. I find I can't keep it at the levels for xx minutes but can do it in bursts. Why? Legs wasted? Lactate build up? Accumulated lactate from multiple hard workouts with no rest? My HR is maxing out too quickly at sub threshold levels. I'm finding I have to back off for about 10 seconds every few minutes on the sustained efforts, but can then get back into it.
oh well, hopefully it's doing me some good and I see an FTP increase after a rest.

Just joined the team... hope thats alright with everyone!
I've just joined the team too.

Don't think I'll be able to keep this up for the full 9 days, but I'll give it a good shot. Day 3 done, and only had sick pay a visit twice so far.
I must say that the Sufferfest RPE and the trainerroad power levels at 100% are way out of whack !
Cougie you killed it last night!
I started at the correct time but I'm coming off the back of a pretty bad cold. Naturally that influenced my FTP test too though (tested at a paltry 216W!) so in theory I should get stronger as the week goes on.
Apparently I slept so deeply after that that my wife thought I'd died in my sleep !

Better she thought that then, rather than when you were having an intimate moment!
I'm sure you'd suffer as a consequence!!!

Their RPE and my powermeter seem to differ a fair bit.
I know it gets easier once I've warmed up - but I haven't the time to do a 30 min warm up and THEN do the Sufferfest !
First turbo on a Monday for me too H0nk !
Are you running a powertap, cougs?

Engineer, why have you made your workouts private in PSOF team page?

SaintB, I didn't realise I had!
No worries

Pah bollox fella
ES Done, had to drop to 85%. Even then, at first I struggled to get it up to 165W ffs. My quads are shot, and my ass don't feel much better either.
These are:
More importantly.... did you get the "Stage Complete"?!
