  • i thought everyone lay their vest out flat and just pinned the number to it.  after each pin went in a cheeky look to see if you have pinned the other layer of the vest and repeat until all 4 corners are done.

can i confirm that when you iron clothes you arent wearing them at same time?image

  • anyone have experience with these:

    http://www.clipdorfix.com/en/

  • No, pero mirar interesante...

  • They were given out with the numbers for Etape Caledonia. Mr Chloella declared they were the greatest thing since sliced bread and I've been looking fr a place to buy my own from ever since. Cheers!
  • My vest has two horizontal stripes on it at around boob level. Because I am dangerously geeky, I need the number to be just underneath the bottom stripe, and for the top edge to be parallel with the stripes. Can't be doing a race with a number that isn't STRAIGHT. So I have to pin it on before I put the vest on.

I did once try to iron a skirt I was wearing at the time, though.

  • Am I the only one who doesn't care whether it is straight or not? just as long as marshalls can read it and the pins don't rub anywhere too sensitive.

  • Nooooooo!!!!!!

It MUST be straight or BAD THINGS will happen.
  • It must be straight or it tends to rub somewhere, usually around the arm pit area

  • Elite runners will punch holes in the number to help improve speed ! Has anyone else tried this and does it work?

RW Towers any chance of an article and maybe some helpful hints/tips ??

  • on an ironing board, one layer on top of the board and one underneath. this ensures you don't pin through both layers

  • Genius! The flat surface would probably help with getting it absolutely straight, too!

  • But what if you pin it to the ironing board?  Do you run with the ironing board down your top?

  • Don't worry Caz, if you manage not to pin it to your boobs, you're already on advanced safetypinning.

  • Well that's shoe laces tied and number pinned on sorted.

Can someone please tell me how to wipe my botty on race morning please?

  • from last year's thread on a similar topic ... http://www.sportsmagneter.dk/english-version.html

  • The Nike races used to have shirts with the number printed on. No faffing.

  • i'm often amazed that even in Olympic events the athletes still have old school numbers. you'd think they'd be a 3D hologram or summat.

Jury is out on scrunch or fold. Andrex are currently researching that. Keep an eye on their adverts for the answer.

Actually "fold" won. The advert was on last week.

  • I can't believe they went there to be honest. Slightly revolting.

  • Cheers screampillar.

Phil - the answer is fold.
  • Cheers all.  Seems like I've been doing it right all along.  That's what you get from the friendliest forum on the interweb - knowledgeable reassurance!

  • I honestly thought when I first read the title that this was one of those joke threads....

At least we don't have a "how do I tie my laces" thread....

  • How do you secure the number on your vest

when i saw the thread title I thought it was about securing a specific number.

perhaps organisers are missing out here.

charge an extra fee and allow the runners to select the number of their choice.

    Absolute class!

  • Has there ever been a piece of work to research how pins are applied ? After all if getting it right could shave seconds off your PB I'm sure plenty would do it !

I used to go out with a girl who I thought must have done exactly that.  It turned out not to be so.
