Rubbish weather

When is spring going to come for goodness sake? Did a freezing 5 miles round the woods yesterday afternoon. There were a few brave little crocuses out. This morning they were covered in snow. It's nearly Easter for god's sake. I've had enough now.

  • Me too - great for running IMO but crap the rest of the time image

  • It'll be sods law it will be scorching hot for the London Marathon.
  • and people will complain about that too.

  • Damn right !image
  • Yes it will Cougie and yes they will WiB, sure as eggs is eggs...

Which reminds me, it's nearly Easter. Mmm, chocolate Lindt bunny :-P

  • I could do with it being dry and between 10 and 12 degrees. Just to see the sun on the odd run would be nice.

We've all been pre-emptively complaining about it already on the P&D thread. image

At least you are organised. Nothing worse than having to think of an excuse on the fly post race and coming up with something weak like the weather... ohimage

  • I ran FLM 2007 - one of the hottest ever that had come after a very cold winter.

Now even as an atheist I have to say it felt like the Gods were taking the p*ss that year!

If it's still cold after Easter Sunday I'm doing my VLM taper training indoors dressed like the Michelin man, for acclimatisation.  Otherwise it's gonna be 2007 all over again.  (Minus the bleeding nipple.  I'm not that stupid!)

    x-post - exactly!

  • One year I had the brilliant plan to do all my long runs after work - so I didnt see the sun at all. And then I struggled in the heat...... Funny that eh ?

Good plan Phil - I think I'll do the same.
  • I'm doing a few trail races this "spring". Perhaps I should start training for running in wellies.

Interestingly the iPad autocorrects that to willies.
  • i want it to warm up so i can wear my new shorts i got in the sales, at least my long sleeved tops got their wear

i am cottaging in lake district week - omg  - could be the most miserable easter weather yet lol , i usually camp  - i wasn't so stupid to book that this year  - my kids might have killed me

You must have brought the "Porn 3" version. Didn't the black PVC case and optional handcuffs give it away? image

Cottaging? Definitely not the weather for that sort of thing! image

Should be fine... it's an indoor sport! http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cottaging

warmer that the traditional easter family  camp out, one year the cutlery froze to the table image but the last 2 years easter has been hot , tbh , i am stingy , its cheaper to visit the lakes this time of year than summer lol

  • Cold? I've spent the last 2 days in shorts and t-shirts, even when not running! I'm sure it must have been a glorious 11 degrees today. Spring is in the air as I've been pointing out to people in coats and scarves who give me scathing looks when I stroll past wearing sunglasses.

  • My shorts haven't seen the light of day yet! Running trousers, Gloves, Base Layer and the whole lot!

I hate the cold. The hotter the better, I even like running better in the heat and I honestly believe I'm quicker when the sun gets up.

I've seem some runners out in shorts all ready, good luck to them!

My shorts will probably come out of the cupboard around June time.

  • Bunch of wimps ! I was running in shorts at 6:30 this morning
  • I am so over winter

It had better be a long hot summer or I shall be having words

  • OMD lol my sweet innocent cottaging post !! I just read the link *blushing*
  • I am in desperate need for some sun...for the bike rides more than the running........and to turn the wind burn colouring on my legs to suntan.much nicer colour

  • I don't like training in hot weather dave to be honest..i run in shorts and vest in the winter and so when its hot i struggle as there are no more clothes i can take off.............so my pace slows down........

now if i was younger and slim i could wear one of those bra type tank tops and show off my rippling 6 pack..........

but unfortunately if i remove my top my stomach woul;d get in the way of my knees running......much the same as it does when cycling a bikeimage

but i would like some warm sunny dry days please.............

  • Shorts regardless of weather. Always. Plus jacket and gloves image

  • its about mental strength Dave..you have to want it and put up with the painimage.....or you could just train and get slimmer and fitter............which is something i should be doing.......
