Carbo/electrolyte supplement tasted of egg.

I had some Kinetica 100% energy ( a freebie from a previous race) today prior to a 10k event, and it smelled/tasted of egg.  I used 2 separate bottles, and both were cleaned & sterilised prior to use, and it had only been in the bottle for about 90 minutes.  Anyone else had a similar experience with this or other powdered energy drinks?
