Does anyone know of an open track training session in the WA12 (Newton-le-Willows) area? I am not in a club but run regularly and would like to try some track running. Also, would I be expected to wear any particular footwear, or would my regular road shoes be OK? Thanks Lee

There's a track near Pennington Flash. See here:

Leigh Harriers train there, as do some other local clubs.
Not sure whether you can turn up and run unaffiliated, but if you're keen then it may be worth looking at joining a club.
