I just phoned them up and they said I have been accepted etc and that I should have received an email - I haven't received it (or at least I can't find it) so they sent again, and now I have email confirmation so going to enter/pay etc.
So - if you've not heard anything may be worth ringing them up .
I applied on Tuesday (25th) and heard nothing so rang them up today. After waiting on the line for 10 mins I got through and within 2 mins they had checked my information and I got the confirmation e-mail very shortly afterwards. Definitely worth giving them a call if you have not heard anything after seven days to hurry things up.
Still waiting, called up and was told they are still working through entries. They were not able to say why some entries have emailed links when others, who entered earlier, have not!
I have to say the person I spoke to did not inspire!
Still waiting! Now they are saying I may not receive anything until the end of next week Fruatrating as seems to be no logic in the order they are dealing with applications!
There is now a recorded message saying that provided you got your application in by the deadline, then you will hear back by the 17th July. I just phoned them up to verify that they'd got my application (they have), so now it's just a case of waiting.
I got a rejection email this afternoon saying I'd been turned down for one of three reasons - I hadn't met the qualifying standard (I had), my race was too long ago to count (it wasn't) or I live outside the UK (I don't). I had a short conversation with them on the phone which went roughly 'I don't understand why I've been rejected', 'er, neither do we', I have the correct email!
The moral of that being that they appear to have no idea what they're doing, and don't panic if you get a rejection.
Did Amsterdam 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. Start and finish in the stadium is great. Can be tough if its windy but flat so potential pb. Nowhere near as much support as London but that's not the main consideration for me.
Agree, the large noisy crowds are great but sometimes a little distracting. I really enjoy a quiet marathon like Abingdon with little support but you get to chat with fellow runners a bit more!
I chose Amsterdam as a flat course for my son but I imagine will be a liitle exposed with strong winds.
Unless they change the rules again, it's always been age on the day of the race (VLM) that counts. So yes, you can run a GFA qualifying time for 50-59 when you're 49.
Having missed out via the ballot again I'm looking at trying to post a sneaky GFA time before the deadline this year. Are there any particular qualifying events or will all marathons give you proof of time that can be used for the application? Do we know when the deadline for applications is?
Maxwell the GFA entry will open sometime in June for about a month.
Most marathons will be accepted to get the GFA time from, the course must be certified marathon distance but most are. See the 100 marathon club website for details of races over the next few weeks
Thanks for your reply. Looking on 100 marathon club, Milton Keynes is too soon and Kent is full. Between Halstead and Richmond Park I suppose. Richmond is more convenient whereas Halstead looks a slightly flatter course which would be better for the purpose of posting a quick time!
I take it I can cross that one off the list then! I haven't run either, was just going by the description on the RW events page which describes it as undulating as opposed to richmond being undulating/hilly

Got my email today - applied on Tues 25th. Online entry a breeze...confirmation of payment and place (to the Champs...I think not!) straight after.

I agree about having no idea what they are doing! However I have, at last, received my link
Got mine today! Phew! I guess as it's the first time online, there's bound to be a few hiccups.
I've got mine too. It also says championship. My time was 2:58. No suspect the championship bit is an error.
Mine says Championship too! Maybe we've all been upgraded...not!
I too got an email saying Championship place.
The time to panic is when you receive a bib with your surname written across rather than a race number.
GFA entry acceptance notification by email today.
Deadline to accept 5pm 26th July 2013
Mine also says Championship! It would be really funny rocking up there as a 67 year old woman!
Finally got it and paid.
Ok back from hols and I'm in and paid.
Anyone doing Amsterdam as an autumn marathon? I doing it with my son (his first one so looking forward to that) it gets some good reviews.

On good for age for London when is the measure of the age in the age range (say 50-59) is it:
- the date you set the time
- the date you apply for the race
- the date you race
I think it is the latter. So can you set a 50-59 3:20 qualifying time the year before when you are 49?
So no I do t think you can set a GFA time when you are 49 for a 50 yo place next year.
It goes by your age on race day, so I believe you can Wenty,
I've just discussed this on p and d site. I will be 39 next year. If I run a sub 3.15 at 39 or 40 can I use it as a gfa at 41.
Lit seems to think there was someone on a previous p and d thread that hit the time the year before and then used it as gfa.

at the idea of Halstead being a flat course..........

it's a beautiful race - open countryside, uncrowded and well supported. But 'undulating' is generous........ there must be a course profile somewhere?
