Hi Sally. Long time no see. Hope you and Dave are well.
I think you'll enjoy this. Nice course. I tried to do the 20 miles last year, despite not doing a marathon, but dropped out at at the 12 mile point due to a bad back that I got from a fall a few days previously.
I'm tempted to come down for it, but it's a 2 hour journey.
Let me know your numbers as I'll be marshalling so will give you a proper Galah squwak as you all streak past!
Hey Crazy Lady (oooh I've gone all Elvis) - Oakley is about 6-7 miles outside Bedford. There's a Travel Inn in central Bedford (on Priory Marina) that friends of mine have stayed in and depending on how many of you are staying makes sense as you pay by the room not the person, or there's plenty of B&B's near the train station - try the Shakespeare Hotel for one of the better ones and it's about a 5 min walk away.
hi Terry it took me a few moments to realise who the fat squirrel was!! have sent you an email but if you dont get it, me and Dave are both well and both have a place in the FLM hope to see you at the race sal x
That's a good point M. Should be tapering too, so may do the 12, although I should be OK if I promise myself not to "race it". Is Amsterdam before or after the FLM? (Goes off to look).
RR-CR. I don't remember any particularly testing hills, but it is fairly undulating. To be fair I spent most of the race deciding when to pull out, as I was in pain with the aforementioned back probs.
well we are comitted now, have just booked me and Dave into the 20 miler GULP!! our tapering starts as soon as the race finishes. dont think I will manage too many really long run in training, I wont race this, I will be lucky if I finish around 3.45. we should come back to this forum post race and compare times and stiff legs and after FLM. good luck everyone
SlowButFar - entries on the day were accepted last year, but you'll have seen from other threads that races seem to be getting full more quickly these days.
Nick, The embankment in Bedford is ok though 3-4 hours may be pushing it a bit and it depends how manic your kids are (lots of water around). And you nee good weather . . . The shops aren't far away from there.
SBF - is Nicholls Brasserie still open on the Embankment? Mrs, Mini & Micro will be 'doing brunch' in the Berkhamsted one while I do the half mara there, so maybe they could get a season ticket
Yes had my number, can't remember what it was off hand - 45 or something like that I think.
Nick - The river is Bedford is nice but maybe not for 4 hours although all the shops are there as well. There is a nice swimming pool with Slides and that sort of stuff if the family are into that sort of thing.
I hope to get round in just under 3 hours.
3 hours 3 minutes last year. Did my first long run yesterday. About 19.5 in 3 hours 8 minutes. However in another month should be on for sub 3. Well that is the plan anyway.

May turn out to be a rest day for me, as I slept through my alarm this morning.
i'm only up to 10 miles at the moment but got as far as 16 before i went to new zealand.
have fun

Sounds like you are doing well. NZ sounds like a once in a lifetime trip too. How exciting...
Hang around your motor to ensure it has the number of wheels as when you arrived! :-)

Are you from Liverpool, Sean?
