Don't know about Nicholls Brasserie Nick - I used to live in Bedford but haven't walked along the embankment for ages - just drive through when visiting the outlaws now . . . .
Wot about Milton Keynes? Not far away and definately plenty of shopping. Doing Oakley 20 week after Broadland 15, and not even entered in FLM!! Trying to get my club's records for 15 & 20 before I turn 35 in July. Not many 15's about that have SEAA certificates, so may struggle doing both within a week. Dragging a Bed's Harrier along to keep my mind off the distance. We'll be the one's talking the whole way round! Hope we don't put any of you off.
Yep. Thanet this week (aggh) then nice weekend trip to Bath, then Bedford. Then taper. This all looked so far away when I booked the races in....can't believe its crept up so quickly.
Although I've paid & got my place I've now found a 20m in Hemel which is nearer home & better for family supporters (coz they could go to friends nearby for a few hours while I plod round) - not sure which I'll do now
Nick- Will the Gade 20 is just down from where you work. However as a Bedfordshire boy I will be doing Oakley rather than Gade. Actually having done the 12 and 17 plus Berko and Hemel by then I feel I need a change of scenery !
Brooksie - having discussed it with Mrs Nick, I've decided to go for Gade 20 instead, easier to find, family can visit friends etc. Will see you at the weekend & the one after that (see what you mean about a change of scenery )
To everyone doing Oakley - have a great run, it sounds like an excellent event
yes...hilly is scary! I just did the London Half (prep for FLM) and managed it in 1:48 (I'm a first time marathoner)...so I won't be doing the 20 in any less than 3 hrs...just how 'undulating' is undulating in this course?

Is there anyone who would be prepared to volunteer to be my pacer for 11 min miles???
R U doing Thanet as well?
Me too.
a) flatter
and
b) closer to home!
Good luck with Thanet!
Pants. Oh well all good training I suppose though I doubt I'll be saying that after 20 miles.
Good luck at worthing though - should be a good one!

Also - the drinks...just water or also lucozade?
Finally - anyone know what our 'momentos' are...silly question, I know, but I need some kind of reward after I finish!!
Thanks
Probably looking at about 2:35 - 2:40 for the 20 miles (managed 2:38:08 last Sunday on a similarly testing hilly route).
Good luck all

I think this might be a little bit slower though!
108 finished last year's 12 and 370 the 20. Course is a bit rural for spectators around the course but there wiil be a few near the start/finish area.
Last year finishers got a long sleeved shirt and I can only remember water being available.
Map of the course in on the Harriers website www.bedfordharriers.co.uk
"RW Says: A tough undulating race around the village of Oakley"
Also, several Club mates commented on it being hilly. This'll be my first Oakley.
I entered by post and have my number (#58), expect on-line ones will follow shortly.
Good luck all
