Hi everyone

after having done the Neolithic Marathon this weekend I'm entering this one as well image

Who else is up for it?

  • Oooh its a nasty bug that won't ever go away you know

  • JindaleeJindalee ✭✭✭
Lol Ekgo. I think it's a good bug to have... image
  • Not too bad really, there are worse habits

  • JindaleeJindalee ✭✭✭
    Exactly my thinking Ekgoimage
  • My next is a fortnight in the lakes at Windermere, which is very hilly I believe

  • JindaleeJindalee ✭✭✭
yesterday should have been good training for your next one image good luck!!
  • I am local to Salisbury and doing this (as my first Marathon!)

    very excited, image

    Hi runloulou image

I have never done it so cannot comment on it but I heard good things about it. I am also local so not going to miss this one.
  • I am in.... this was my first marathon and I have done it many times since.

I was going to do the half, but then noticed you can do a marathon for the same price as a half! I was thinking supermarket; 100% extra free! To say my 'free' second half was interesting is an understatement, lets just say my pacing was not as good as it could have been. But it is a great course; how many races go past/through three castles, two country estates and a cathedral?

Beware the weather... running marathons in the summer can be hard work!!

I'll be in for the 50k again. Great scenery and loads of aid stations.

Last year the weather was all over the place. Got cought up in a hail storm after about 2 miles, then the sun came out and it was roasting hot for the last hour.
  • 30k for me, I'm looking forward to this as I grew up in Salisbury and love to visit.

    tempted with the 50....

Come on dustin! You know you want to ..image
  • Got my first marathon end of June then I'm going straight for the 50k in Salisbury. Was going to do it last year but dropped down to the 30k again due to injury image and distance ran in training. I really enjoyed it and saw some lovely scenery, especially legging it past that massive castle that looked like it belonged to some rather posh people image I cant wait to do it again this year, very good fun. Simple and well organised

If you do the 50k you also get to run past the camel!
  • JindaleeJindalee ✭✭✭
I just entered the Marathon. image think 50k would be a bit too much for me atm

But that means I don't get to run past the camel? image
  • I'm in!

My first ultra -doing the 50k - The Vicar - think I have the same plan as you, I'm doing the Giantshead Trail Marathon at the end of June, then keep on running! Sounds like a really friendly, well organised run, so I won't have to worry about too much about any aspect except actually finishingimage

There doesn't seem to be any real info about it online anywhere tho - my folks live near Yeovil and I would like to check out some of the route beforehand if possible.

    Hi Virago

Yes it sounds like a nice race and it's a bit sad that they don't have a proper website with more info to support it.
  • It's a very local race run by the fire station, but well organised, well signed, and yes, you do get a camel included in the 50K but we have to share it. As I remember a few teasing hills, nothing major, split of road and trail, I'd recommend taking your own drinks on the 50K, I didn't last year and regretted it. The last part coming through the town fighting through the tourists must frighten them a little.

  • Hoping to do this again, finished 4th in the 30k the first time I ran it & got 2nd a few years later. Sadly older, fatter & slower now but it is so well organised and the course so interesting I hope to be back this year. Now do I stick to 30k or go longer???

  • Is it easy to follow the course,or do u have to be a Boy Scout?

Don't worry, it is well signposted.

  • Are you joining us then Jeremy?

  • just signed up for 30k..1st at that distance....longest run was a couple of weeks ago at 17 miles...

but as this is my home town....thought why not!

    like to support smaller races

Started training for this one at the weekend. It's nice to get back on the trails after lots of road mileage for VLM.

    Hi Jeremy and Millsy

I guess I might see you around then. Might have run past you many times alreadyimage
  • Looks like i'll see you lot on the start line. In for my first 50k, as I seem to have caught the bug for distance after doing my first marathon (and a bit) a few weeks back. So onwards and upwards is the best course of action. image
