  • Hi Kallum

    Welcome image

Be careful, the long distance bug is a nasty one as far as I can tellimage

I am only doing the Marathon but if you see me around feel free to say hi. I will be wearing a pink shirt with "Jindalee" written on the back so should be fairly easy to spot lolimage
  • I'm in for the 50kimage

  • I'll be anxiously waiting for the start at the back of the pack trying to appear calm but will most likely be failing miserably. I'll be going for a blue theme i think image

  • Pinkbug, how was your Neolithic Marathon?
  • Kallum, I'm sure you will be fine image just enjoy it! Blue theme sounds good.
  • Route looks great..looking forward..but traing hard for my longest ever run

Not running very well at the moment, so took it easy chatting to loads of people on the way round and enjoyed it, came in at about 4:40, over an hour slower than my pbimage

  • Hi Pinkbug, I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you get back to your old form soon.

Glad that you still enjoyed it image
  • btw.. the pictures of the Neolithic are up now as well
  • I quite fancy the neolithic next year, I am doing the half at Kingston Lacey in a couple of weeks and then I will be building for the 54321. Good times!

  • Is the route for the 50k available on line somewhere?

  • Frog

Exactly what I'm doing lol. Doing Mendip 30miler this Sunday so not sure about whether to do HM or 10k. Did you do the Kingston Lacy race last year? Hopefully be a few more bods this year! Also doing the 54321 50k if the body lets me image

  • Great to see that so many ppl on here are up for it image
  • Didn't do Kingston Lacy last year, I have only been running for a year but a friend told me the 10k was lovely but not busy last year. I fancy the route over into Shapwick that the HM brings

  • Iam doing kingston lacy hm too...did 10 k last year.. Good event

  • I'm doing the 30K. Was searching for a 20 miler on this exact weekend as a training race for my first marathon in September and didn't expect to find anything but saw this. Not a million miles from home either. Looking forward to it but I really hope it's not too hot. Hopefully, I'll be back for the 50k next year!

  • Are there plenty of drink stops? Or should I take hydration pack?..will the drinks be cups or bottles?

  • There was plenty of stations last yr. drinks were in plastic cups. I hate carrying more than I have to so was happy with what was supplied.
  • I got through two litres on my 20k trail run on Sunday, I was baking. I think I will only take water if its scorching.

  • 2 lts! Omg be carefull that sound a hell of a lot.

Millsy, think I may just take a couple of gels then, thanks for reply

  • Just entered this one as my first marathon!  Hoping the hills won't be as bad as Devon hills...

  • Hi Roger

welcome image Sorry I have no idea how bad the hills are... When I did my first Marathon, the Neolithic, beginning of this month I walked up the hills to preserve energy, and as it was my first one I wasn't too concerned about the time as it was a PB anyway ! image so my aim was to enjoy the experience and the lovely views... and to finish! image
  • Hi Jindalee!

One of the reasons for choosing this was the cut off time!  I just want to make it round in one piece, I'm not exactly speedy, so will see what the hills are like and won't be disappointed if I have to walk a bit!  Sounds like a lovely route image

  • There are a few hills but they are not the worst I have ever encounters in a race. My tactic is to take it easy on the way up and try and speed up a bit on the way down. The views really make the hills worth the effort.

I did this as my first marathon, the hills felt hard (there are four, the four in 5-4-3-2-1). But compared to Devon they are just undulations!

  • Hi Roger

that sounds like a good plan. I Am sure I will walk a fair bit but I will take it easy again end enjoy the views. I am looking forward to it image
  • I did the 30k last year as training for my first marathon, and am really tempted to do the marathon this year.  Really well organised race with a great start venue, and great scenery throughout.

  • So what is stopping you Sonic? Come on you know you want to image
  • It doesn't fit in with my training schedule - I'd been planning to work on bringing down my shorter distance times this year but I am seriously tempted!

Might have to do it with the run/walk method rather than racing it so I can do it with minimal long-distance training...

  • Sounds like a plan image

or you can do one of the shorter distancesimage
