Last long run this morning 30k. Encountered 5 rain showers but they weren't too bad. Is anyone else running the 50k and aiming for @5.45-6.00 hours? Hope there will be a few others around to run with at this pace. This is my first Ultra so no idea what to expect. No race pack for me yet also but I only entered last Thursday.
I'm doing the Marathon but if you see me around feel free to say hi. I will be wearing a pink top with Jindalee written on the back, in black glittery letters, should be easy-ish to spot
I will be taking my ipod in case there are stretches with no one around like I had at the neolithic, then it's nice to have some music. Please don't let anyone stop this from talking to me, as it would be nice to meet some of you. The music won't be loud so I will hear everything around me
Surely nothing can be wetter than the New Forest Half/Marathon last year? As a lady of a certain age I like a downpour to cool me down. Not had race pack yet, but definitely got an e-mail!
rogerbunny, did you do the new forest one last year as well? it was my first ever HM and I felt so sorry for the ppl who did the marathon. Being my first race ever I was woefully unprepared and was only wearing a t-shirt once I got out of the car. Luckily we were late-ish so the race started the moment we arrive at the start. But got so wet and was freezing whilst running and after finishing was feeling really ill. Luckily they had that hall where you could warm up a bit.
There was far too much rain about for me this morning so i did a long one inside on the running machine
where I'd stay nice and dry. ( I know, you don't have to tell me, I'm a bit soft )
Managed 20 miles in 2:40 . Had my music on full blast so it was more of running dance. I got lost in music at one stage and nearly went flying off the machine. That'll teach me.
Yes, it was the New Forest half! Never been so wet after running. My favourite bit was sitting in the van when I'd finished, having a pot noodle while waiting for a club mate to finish the marathon. Pot Noodle has never tasted better!
Can imagine that the pot noodle was delicious after that race. Luckily the 3 of us all did the HM and finished within 15 mins apart. I entered this years HM too and hoping for better weather and seeing some ponies on the way
Race pack arrived today Nice running Waccy, that's a long run on the TM & at a good pace! Going to try a steady 60 min run tomorrow if weather holds up.
Hang on Waccy, if my maths is right that means your pace (taking the 45s into account) is ~6min/miles?! That's my pace for km over a marathon! Thats seriously impressive (unless I've added it up wrong!).
I've never run on a dreadmill but it can't make that much difference can it?
What can you guys tell me about the elevation profile? Too late to do anything about it if they're are huge mountains to climb, but it's always nice to know exactly what I should be worried about!
FD its pretty flat really. i dont remember any huge climbs. Steepest I remember is at the beginning whereyou wind your way up Old Sarum. A few long inclines but nothing you couldn't really run up.
No i won't be nowhere near the front Millsy. Running indoors on the treadmill is quite different to trail racing. I'll be happy to average 9 minute miles. Ideally I'd like to get under 4:15 . My best time for a trail 50k is 4 hours and 59 seconds

Frogbmth, no race pack for me either so far not sure if I missed the postman or if he's still coming today.
I checked and I did def enter the race so hopefully it will come soon
Haha snap I went through my emails too just to be sure!
Colourful race pack arrived today full of instructions. I liked the sentence regarding
ipods & mp3 players, The organisers have no objections to these being worn, it is proved they can enhance your running experience ...
Did an unplanned 12 miles easy last night and had a rest today. Tomorrow i'll be doing a big one. Hope the weather stays reasonable.
No, nor will I . Far to scenic and i do enjoy a chat now and again.

Good thing about it? It got better from there
@Millsy Thanks, I'll give them a call and see if they can fit me in.
@Sandrunner10 I'm doing the 50k. It's my first ultra too and 5-6hrs sounds like the kind of time I'll likely run too. See you there!
Got my map and bits through the post
Yay mines here too
That's the way to do it Sandrunner !

Got my race pack today - 42R85!

No worries Jindalee I've been doing this kind of thing for years. I was running today
about 45 seconds a mile below what I can do at the moment and i kept the treadmill
on level so it wasn't difficult. I don't think i'll be going that fast on the day
I got lost in music at one stage and nearly went flying off the machine

Sorry Jindalee,
i did realise that after i wrote my post.
Rich I was doing about 8 min miles on the treadmill . Minus 45 seconds takes it down to 7:15.
Last week I did the Blackbird leys mile in 5:50.
