Hi all, possibly a dumb question but would like someone to explain this in more detail for me please. I am currently doing 'core strength' bodyweight exercises like bridging, planks and crunches, to help with my back pain and also to build my back up for the hillwalking with heavy packs that I will be doing later in the Summer.
Online I have seen 'core exercises' with weights like dumbells and similar- do these achieve the same purpose??
Are core exercises essentially for rehab or for gaining muscle mass, or both?
Any explanation would be appreciated, thanks!

Using weight will just increase the difficulty factor of the exercises and can provide variation when you've been dodging the same ones for a while. There is nothing wrong with the ones you're doing.
