For a woman aged 27, is running a half marathon in 1 hr 48 mins a good time.

Let's just say yes, it's a respectable time.

the more years that pass, the better time it'll be!

Was it on a hilly course?

this reminds me of a cracking thread I posted in about 2006, asking if a 1hr 28 half marathon was decent for a 24/25year old bloke (ie me)

not sure why i put the word "or" in there, as if i could just casually get there..

but yes kids, 1hr 15 WAS possible...but i'm afraid for a talentless buffoon like me took a lot of work image

  • Who is this " a woman" that it's a good time for anyway? Why the need to measure yourself on the internet or to other people? Look at the race results. Are you ahead of a lot of people with F next to their name or not? Surely if we wish to measure ourselves against someone then that's why we race? Whether that is the local parkrun or the National XC is another matter.

Yes, the 'or' was my favourite bit. Like you wanted someone to come along and say 'no, don't worry, a bit of footy will be more than enough for someone of your obvious talent'.

I'll take that as a compliment Sussex.  I think!

And Litty, it's funny, the faster you get, the less you talk about talent as you realise talented people don't need to put so much in for such meagre results image

And we've all seen countless examples of people who claim they run a few miles a week, but forget to count the years of doing another highly active sport.

I wonder if td43 is friends with Karen Samuel?

I ran 1:28:33 for a HM after 17 weeks and 256 miles total training. No exercise of any description in the years leading up to this.
