IM CH 2013 Important new from organisers

The organisers have sent out a message to all competitors indicating that the water temp is very close to the 24.5 C cutoff and we should all expect a NON-WETSUIT swim...

this will make my 3rd out of 8 IM's where Wetsuits are banned

  • also includes the 5150 triathlon on Saturday

  • I thought WTC rules were that between 24.5 and 28.8 wetsuits were allowed, but you would forfeit your entrance to Kona if you chose to wear one (assuming you  qualified of course)?

  • I'm pretty sure IMDE wasnt over 28.8 in 2006 when it was the first Euro IM to ban the wetty ?

Good luck ISB - just think of all that time you'll save getting out of the wetsuit !
  • Cougie - the rules changed in 2010, and now state:

Wetsuits may be worn in water temperatures up to and including 24.5 degrees Celsius/76.1 degrees Fahrenheit. Athletes who choose to wear a wetsuit in water temperatures exceeding 24.5 degrees C /76.1 degrees F will not be eligible for awards, including World Championship slots. Wetsuits will be prohibited in water temperatures greater than 28.8 degrees C/84 degrees F.

So their announcement appears to conflict with their rules - who'd have thought - ambiguity in triathlons?? image

  • I think my bath is cooler than 28.8 Degrees ! Wow.
  • Good look ISB, good job pirate trikit is WTC legal, you dont want to meet the ref who tried to DNS Cougies mate.

  • There is also WildWill doin it and Little sis on the Oly...

Look forwards to cooler waters at Henley image

  • See you at Henley.

Oh and ive probably been a bit slack but I must email you requesting a double room for Nice.

  • Wild will be fine he is a strong swimmer..................I can remember in 2009 that i was assured that IMCH was never ever a non wetsuit swim as it was so deepimage

  • Think BBurn Plodder is also doing IMCH

  • Good luck Bobby and Wil and Lil Sis  image

  • Oh yes - good point Barley ! That was very nearly a very short day for him !
  • How are the guys doing ? Any news ?
  • All out and on the run Cougs ...  Dan shouldnt be far from finishing, WIll should be approaching half way

  • Dan 1.15 swim and 5.48 bike
Will 1.34 swim and 7.17 bike
Bobby 1.38 swim and 6.49 bike

Think thats our quota out there at the moment

  • 11.06 for Dan ..   Should have put some more effort in the bike son  image

  • thats a slow swim for will......I thought he would be ok without a wetsuit as he is strong......

some good bike times saying it is probably still a tad hot there
