I'm new on here and thinking 2014 could be my debut Ironman year! The ironman Uk bike sounds quite daunting though but I did do Ironman UK 70.3 two years ago which was pretty hilly. Has anyone done both and how do the bike courses compare (apart from the length!)? This could convince me....!
I have done both twice (Wimbleball in 2009/11, Bolton 09/10). Apart from the length I think Wimbleball is a tougher bike course. Sheephouse lane (approx 2 miles) is the only real hill at Bolton (although you do it 3 times) whereas some of the Wimbleball hills I thought were harder.
If you've done Wimbleball you'll be fine at Bolton - just need to ride for longer.
Hope this helps.
Also, UK FB page says it has nearly sold out about 10 minutes ago - if you are thinking of entering
Borobboy - thanks for hill info, good insight. I'm sure there will be many questions from us newbies. Looks like it will be a record time sell out and boot even get to general entries.
Don't panic still places left IRONMAN UK 2014 - All the places for Pre-Registered athletes have now been sold.
We will release 50 places to the general public, on a first come, first served basis, at 12 noon on Sunday 1st September. Return to this page then for the entry code and link.
You can still guarantee a place in IRONMAN UK 2014 via our charity partners, please see the Charity pages or via our Official Travel partner, Nirvana Europe.

I'm in the Big one in Bolton So excited & scared !
Doing the ironman double next year = ironman70.3 and ironmanUK.
Better get out on those hills for the next 11 months, after Henley (half dist).
What have I done ??!!!

Although my bank refused the transaction at first. Nothing dodgy about a £397 payment going out via a public wifi connection in Cyprus...
I had to put my card details in twice too - better check only one lot of payment goes out
I'm going to wait to get into wales first, no wales and I'll be joining

Looks like it has the makings of a busy thread again this year
Hi everyone,
I'm new on here and thinking 2014 could be my debut Ironman year! The ironman Uk bike sounds quite daunting though but I did do Ironman UK 70.3 two years ago which was pretty hilly. Has anyone done both and how do the bike courses compare (apart from the length!)? This could convince me....!
Thanks Woody, I was a bit reluctant to add myself being a newbie!
Looks like I will be picking up where I left off a couple of weeks ago with lap or two of IM again on Sunday.
I am in again
this year was my first 14hrs 31mins
hope to go a bit quicker

Yeah, twitter says almost full as well. Is it still prereg only or is it general entry now?
Still prereg. Don't think general entries open until 1 Sep as prereg code is valid until midnight 31 Aug.
Wow, looks like there may not be a general entry then!
Borobboy - thanks for hill info, good insight. I'm sure there will be many questions from us newbies. Looks like it will be a record time sell out and boot even get to general entries.
Glad in in
I am in.
Less than 90 places left...
Sold out!! Wow - previous record 6 weeks, now down to 2.5 days!!
thats quick going..............wonder if it will affect the sales for outlaw as they are only a wek apart and IMUk has opened before outlaw this year
Good effort! Will certainly be interesting to see how Outlaw goes and the numerous others that are spriging up this year !!
I'm not enjoying having to make decisions about next year so far in advance - can you get a refund if you withdraw later on?
Some of them will offer you a percentage discount which decreases in time
Its quite 'normal' to commit this far out with the branded ones

Britrisky link to withdrawal/ transfer info....... if it works.
I think the Outlaw will sell out even quicker now - people were trying to decide between IMUK and Outlaw, and now that decision's been made...
