Oh i realise that. Just made it tight at the line, especially when I was trying to be disciplined with my km splits. I knew at the 8 mile point it would be tight but assumed I'd have some energy for a sprint at the end, but I used all my energy up just maintaining my speed into that headwind.
Well done on the pbs, extra special in those conditions.
Glad to see that the elite runners were slowed by a minute per mile on the run in as well.
Great day with no rain and not cold. Always enjoy this though the crowds were down and no surprise given the weather. But the support was good all way round.
Have already entered for next year. Now what's the long range weather forecast..........................
PB for me too, even though I let myself down by walking 3 times ??!!! 1:16:16 which although I was aiming for sub 1:15 is very pleasing, given THOSE winds !! Well done everybody - as usual, a 'Great' event and I too am signed up for next year already !!
All i can say is omg that wind!! was on target to smash by pb but just felt like i was going backwards the last 2 miles ended up 50 seconds slower than last year but still proud of myself for doing it 1.45 with no where near as much training as last year. next one for me is the brooklands half in march, never run that far yet and inland so hopefully no wind
I have Ghost Race, Lordshill 10 on Sunday, Gosport Half, Portsmouth Marathon and then the Disney Dopey Challenge in early January. I'm also in for Stubbington 10k if I can still stand.
I have a Halloween fancy dress 5km this Thursday where, if the costume arrives in time, I will be dressed as Dr Frank n Furter... Then Reading Half and then all going well my first Marathon attempt in Brighton.
...just found this thread. Well done to all. I swear the wind was pushing me backwards at times. I live in S'sea so often run the seafront...but never when it's like that!
I hated it from the get go. Horrible. found it all super tough but SO pleased I did it and finished it! Have tried to run this blasted race 3 times and haven't managed it through injury and what not. So this year was 3rd time lucky and I'd had enough by about half way! Was I the only one who found the wind in the last 2 miles simply impossible? I was struggling to walk let alone run!!!!!
Take me my hat off to everyone who got a PB, in fact take my hat off to all us finishers.
I loved it! apart from the last 2 miles which added on 40 secs each to the last 2....still, I got a pb of 1.15.04 so I am HAPPY!!! (and only 7 seconds behind Iwan Thomas so I got on the telly too!)

good luck to all )
Thought the porter potty would blow over...
Don't think I will be aiming for a time today just to get round!
good luck everyone
Personal best today of 1:36:27, very windy on the last 2 miles!
Mind you the extra 250m on my Garmin meant it was closer than I thought as I thought I had a minute to spare.
Left the common about 3pm and half the porter potties had blown over
Unless you ran the exact racing line it will always be a little out. They are also not 100% accurate anyway.
What a wind!

well done everyone, pretty tough out there today, new pb of 1.22.56 for me, but the real bonus was that I saw The Green Fairy!
I felt much better knowing that the elite athletes put a minute on each mile in the last stages,
i have also entered next year!
Seen there is a halying 10 soon, might be bit full of club runners for me

My first attempt at this and Oh My God was it tough!!
i had hoped for a time of around 1.30 but the wind and running with a groin/hip issue beforehand meant a time of 1.42.
The £40 I saved by running for charity is being spent on a physio Thursday! But I'll be back next year
