Oxford, the city of dripping spires. 13.1 miles of drizzle and wind. Despite the rain it actually felt better than the Royal Parks last week. I had more energy and managed to keep going a bit better. Finished in 2:28:49 which is about 5.5 mins quicker than last week. I had CC2 in my head all the way round telling me to knock another 4 mins off this week (thanks CC2 ). Frozen to the core when I finished but glad to have the car parked on sit at the Kassam Stadium this year so I could retreat straight away and put some dry stuff on. Just wished I had remember to bring a dry set of undies too .
Strangely enough i felt fine after kielder, was expecting a bad case of the DOMS but it never happened. Am now in rest mode for the winter as my plantar fasciitis is acting up !
Hi RLTW - still here, just lurking! Not too much going on running wise for me as I have done something silly to my back, so am resting it for a few more days. Before that, have taken junior on two Parkruns. She is more of a walk/jog than jog/walk, but am proud of her for having a go as running really isn't her thing!
Congrats on your run at Oxford - improving that PB all the time
Hi and well done to everyone else, especially those that did Kielder. Loved the race reports! Hope the tapering is going well Bearsted. Seems to me that you are very well prepared. Should be a good run.
mr SJ that's tough. I take it the pf will be a long slow recovery.
Muckers - That was more of a dig at the abundance of flash-in-the-pan folk who rush in to tell us they are in GNR or they want a last minute place and then you never hear from them again. You're definitely a more familiar figure in these parts Hope the back problem doesn't hang around.
I want to do another half. I feel energised by the last one and want another go before the season ends. I have Great South Run in a couple of weeks (10 miler) but that is probably one of my last longer runs for the year.
First run today for a while due to business travel. Went to the hotel gym and got on the treadmill for a gentle 10k. After 3k, felt dizzy, next thing I knew I was being picked up off the floor by a trainer after fainting. Massive scorch mark down my shin from the belt. Oh, the embarrassment! At least no worse damage done.
I'm hoping it's nothing more than tiredness from working too hard and not getting enough sleep rather than anything more sinister, especially as I wasn't really pushing myself. What was weird was that I felt right as rain within a minute. If it happens again, I'll get it checked out.

It depends how you look at it really. I did my first marathon in 2004, and didn't do my first half until 2008.
I now treat a half as a half day (it takes me 5-6hrs to complete a marathon, but 2:20 for a half thanks to Stringy!)
If you can get the training in then it'll be fine - and Manchester has great support along the route.
Excellent, thanks for the advice. Looks like im going for Manchester then
No problems James. See you there!
James,
I can't comment on the Manchester course but go for it.
As long as you have the appropriate training then it should be fine mate.
Awfully quiet around here. Did I say summit?
Alright Stringy!
I've got the lurgy, so am keeping to myself. How are you?
Cheers stringy,
I have bitten the bullet and im in.... long winter months training it is
Last run before York Marathon next Sunday - 10 miler doen this morning - bring it on
You'll be great Bearsted
Cheers Vixx I hope so. Just been added to mr sj team for TR24 as OS can't do it next year

Ahhhhhhh - nice one OS!
Evening everyone, well done on the half RLTW.
Evening mr SJ. Have you recovered from Kielder yet?!
Quiet around here these days isn't it. Abandoned by all the newbies.

RLTW - Great running - watch out for the wind on the final 2 miles of the Great South it is usually right into you.
I'm still here but thoroughly cheesed off by lack of running so not posting much. Now I'm waiting on a MRI.
How long will that take Fiona?
Evening all
Vixx - absolutely no idea. It probably won't stop me running if I ever get pain free. How are you?
I'm good thank you
Vixx good luck for Sunday in Amsterdam
Thanks Bearsted - and good luck to you for York
