Re: water stations. We've added a second one this year!! So that's one at 4.5 miles and one at 7.5 miles. Unfortunately it is cups - we'll work on that one for next year. There will also be 1,500 isotonic bottles at the end!
Brilliant event with excellent marshal support, as always. I liked the new route too. As for 'Tom Potson', he was on form with the running commentary, until his microphone went all Normal Collier on him. Didn't take him long to get it fixed though.
Can't wait for next year. This is one race I never miss.
Enjoyed it again (for the 3rd year in a row) Despite being a fell runner I am not sure I liked the new route. It is either a road race or not, this is a bit of both trail and road.
Bit amazed with my offical time exactly the same as last year 1:13:21 but this year about 70 places further down the field. There was about 10 seconds difference in the chip times.
'pat Barry' there were approx 200 additional starters this year as we increased the number of entrants so this may be the reason behind your position - great stuff on getting exact time though ! - we are collating overall feedback on the new route but initial response from the majority is it is a good move - we will work on resolving any pot holes for next year (you may have noticed fresh tarmac in the park which was part of this ongoing course improvement as well)
Really enjoyed the race again this year and the new course. I was about a minute slower than last year but took it a lot steadier, so I was more than pleased with the result.
The only feedback I received from some friends spectating was that the area about the front of Bredbury Hall was a little chaotic with the drinks station and vehicles coming from the Hall itself and they were concerned that the risk of a vehicle catching a runner(s) was quite high.
There were a few photos being taken - any idea where they will be available from?
Excellent thanks for posting the links, some great ones there.
About the new route. I ran it in minimilist shoes (Inov8 bare 180s). They have very thin soles with zero grip. I was a bit wary of slipping on the two off road sections. In thicker grippier soles the route would have been perfectly OK.

Regarding the route to be honest I couldn't remember the old one that well (I must be going senile)
You kept in the hill at the end and the bit around the farm was good although I'm thinking if you do the race on a wet or icey day you might get a few people slipping? So worth thinking about if you need a marshall giving that path some t.l.c. before future races.
As always it was good and friendly so well done and thanks for anouther one.

Damn I will be travelling up from Southampton this weekend to Stockport and was looking for a race. Will have to make do with watching!
Weather not looking too bad for sunday.
Stuart come over anyway you never know what might happen this race is special so worth watching. Just remember tis up north so bring your jumper.
Stuart - you could ask on the day - surely there will be some people who just don't turn up?
I won't be able to run because of injury. If there is a way to transfer my number you can have it.
Try stockport10@hotmail.co.uk]tockport10@hotmail.co.uk]stockport10@hotmail.co.uk

Race day info updated on Stockport Harrier website..here
Place is still available. pm me.
It's going to be a balmy one this year - just right for vest & shorts.
I hope the boss has told the fan to do as it's told this year. We want no more flaccid dirigibles.
Great race. One thing I learnt is I'm not very good at running up hills. When are the results up?
I think they are already online here:
http://www.chiptiming.co.uk/results/?sport=1&year=2013&event=28&race=70
Also struggled with the hills, especially the one at about mile 5!
That was fun how did everyone do? I didn't win but for once this year didn't come last.

No post on this years?
I'm looking forward to it after having to miss it last year.
My target is to not finish last so could I ask everyone to go easier than normal. Well, you fast runners can do what you like as youd still beat me.
I'm doing it again this year. Am looking forward to it although a bit apprehensive about the forecasted rain and winds. And the two big hills!
Hopefully will be fine - I'd be happy with beating last year's time.
I've got a spare place if someone wants to do it, a donation to charity will suffice as payment.
pm if interested.
